STi 7 modified with 320 bhp.

I floored it in second, guess I was doing about 55ish on a piece of road only 150 yards long, with an electricity substation bearing down on me fast. Car has the "Autostyle" mats with aluminium pads on them, accelarator pedal jams underneath the aluminuim bit wide f-----g open in second approaching a junction!! Car bounced off the rev limiter about 3 times.

I dipped the clutch, hit the brakes, switched off the engine and pulled up. But it was very close to the old brown adrenalin rush. I think I'll look for some new mats.

Has this happened to anyone else, gave me a scare no doubt.

Sounds very scary. Never had it happen to me like this before, but I have found the spongy clutch pedal as the mat got crushed under the pedal.

The UK cars have a plastic clip to prevent the mats from creeping forward, and it seems to work very well.

my import has metal bracket bolted to seat mounting and little post with catch that goes through loop on mat. Should be easy to replicate.
Email me if you want more details, when my brain is working better and can think of proper names for catchie thingy.

I have the catchy thing/securing bracket, and will make a hole in the mat to hook it through.

Thanks for the comments, pulse at normal now.

Ian

It's too good to sell, you know that!!

Brown adrenalin moments have been limited to 2, so I think I'm doing okay. Boost guage should be in this week. Sold the turbo timer.
