optimax? vs super unleaded and octane booster?
#2
Have any of you experianced problems with optimax?
Is there a differance running that and sul plus octane boost?
I was running optimax and getting hellish back fires throught my pipe
Now running sul and octane boost and seems to be slightly better performance.
Perhaps its my imagination.
I open the floor let the debate begin

Some others have said in the past that their motors do not run right on Optimax, but mine goes like a rocket with it, I very rarely get any pops or bangs, even with the full de-cat.
Having said that I sometimes get a slight hesitation @ 4K revs, it started almost immediately after I began using Optimax. I will probably go back to SUL for a few tanks after KH and see if the hesitation clears, would like to do it before KH but don't have time to flush the tank through ( 2 or 3 fills) and do a ECU reset.

I have noticed a few exhaust bagfires with the optimax. I have a full decat system. Would the fact that the car sometimes pops and bangs indicate that theres is a loss in performance or that the optimax is not suited for my car?.

Craig, I wouldn't worry about using Optimax + Booster as youre car is TOO SLOW
HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!
(SORRY!)
Russell ( have run Optimax since it came out and car runs suberb - link is mapped for Optimax but always carry a bottle of NF in the boot just in case!)

I do a very small mileage with my car and have found that the knocklink lights up more with old optimax, only green flickers but more than normal.I just fill up £20 now as needed, instead of a full tank and the knocklink is much quieter.

Tuk - got to agree with that - my Knocklink did the same if the car was not run for 5-6 days. Almost as if th eOctane was vapourising out of the fuel. Now I fill the car up with £12-15 of Optimax every 3-4 days and all seems to be well.
Craig, wish I was home for the KH trackday on the 16th - show you what can be done to DE-SLOW your little MY98
