rolling road and airfield day on the 9th of feb
#1
hi there
there is an rolling road day organised by the mlr for the 9th of feb but we are 3 spaces short. anyone interested?! price if the rolling road is 30pounds and it is a morning session only 9-12:30.
also we are booking glenrothes airfield for 2 hours, you can pretty much do what ever you want with your car there is a good quility strip for top speed runs and also there should be a little area suitable for some track runs. price for the air field is a 1o pounds

Saxo Boy,
Scared of getting your *** whoooped on the rollers
The rolling road is an ideal health check for the car. Get a chance to see exactly what your Scooby is putting out with your mods and get to check your boost curve as well.

Not 100% sure what I'm doing that weekend but I'll put my name down provisionally for airfield action.
RR don't interest me to be honest as they seem to return such a mixed bag of results My car pulls and sounds well so from that it should be working fine. I expect it would be around the 270bhp mark but whether its 250 or 300bhp I don't care as long as it doesn't get beaten

colin the rolling road is at star performance. so i have added you to the list.
grant good stuff, we need more poeple for the air strip though. it has been arranged by jim so i am not sure what will he do if we can;t get the numbers.
so far there is only 5-6 people and we need 15 to make it cheap as in a 10£ each.

Saxo,
would you not be interested to see how your cars figures compare to coco's.his might have say 30bhp more at high revs but at the airfield side by side the difference might be much smaller.
IMO rolling road days are only any use to compare similar geared cars with each other,on the same day with same operator.the figures I prefer are the power at wheels and torque as I find them more accurate and consistent.
they are also a good way of checking your car is okay, you have a rough idea what it should be,so if you get much less you can try and find out why,how do you think coco's car was found to have a holed intercooler.

I agree T-uk,
My car was run on Star's rollers quite a while back and I'm running her again on the 9th to check she is OK. No mods have been done to the engine since the last time.
For info, when Moses put his car on the rollers he found that the boost curve and rise time was a bit strange. It "felt" fine on the open road but with further investigation he found his actuator was leaking in three places!
