A mates dads car decided to kill off its head gasket at Striling, the car is currently M&D in Stirling, but they are quoting 800 quid to sort it. Is there anywhere in the area that would do a decent job for a sensible price?

The car is a 1.8i Escort, and to complicate matter the owner lives in Lybster (250+ miles north) and would rather not have to pay to transport the car all that way to get fixed.

Ordinarily I could have used my AA card to help him out but I'm in the south of Englandshire after Marc does my oil change tomorrow.

£800 to fit a head gasket on anything as routine as a 1.8 Escort is trying it on big time. £300 is nearer the mark.

 

I think the price was given taking into acount the situation, maximum points for optimism.
