So if faced with a choice of RB5 or a O1/02 bugeyed WRX what would you choose for your first scoob?
Car would be used everyday for work, and weekends for pleasure.Car would be UK model too.
IN case your wondering ..its for me ....really getting bitten by this bug now

Tough one Spooks......depends on condition and mileage of the classic ? I'm in the same predicament and have noticed that Scooby prices vary wildy from Glasgow to Aberdeen. Whatever, you choose I'm sure you'll have fun !

Nice Motor SDB.
What Mileage is on it? I assume its a UK car too.
I may be back in touch, only thing I dont like is the spoiler, prefer the picinic( yeh I know ) table.... apart from that its the very chappie....will speak to the bank etc and will see what happens.

Alas I still have the 19 , being honest aint tried to get shot of her yet..... trying to find its replacement( scoob obviously).
Mind you I may need to keep it as it looks like my bank are the ones that like to say "no"...... well actually laugh, point and then say nope.
Hows your new scoob doing anyways Ian? Enjoying it? Need to get a wee looksie at it soon, You are going to Kames right?

Where do you stay Spooks?
If you're local, you can have a run in her if you like. Bring your bank manager along, we could scare £15K out of him

IMHO best value to fun ratio would be a MY99 UK or Euro, non RB5. The WRX is more refined and heavier.

IMHO John's blinkered.
The WRX is a hugely better looking, better built, rattle free piece of kit
As far as value goes, take a look at Gammonrolls WRX. Under £13K for a car that is as comfortable on the road to work as it is flying 'round Knockie.

Depends what you want out of a car. You have to do a bit more to the suspension on the older ones to make them corner as well, but with less weight they go and stop better. But if you want refinement and build quality agree the WRX is streets ahead.

As a project car the WRX would make little sense to me - it would need far more power and torque than any aftermarket Subaru synchro gearkit could take to do what I require, and the Subaru 6 speed of the STi is not rated by Subaru to be up to the job of the B11S with more weight and only 400 BHP. Plus it is far easier to get bits for the old one if you break them
