We’re organising a Marshals Training day at Kames , to cover all kinds of event, on Sunday the 27th April, which will be run to MSA guidelines & will be valid for upgrading Rally Marshal licences. In future to Marshal at a Rally you will need to be licensed.

Standing next to any car going off the line at full pelt is an experience , getting 10 spectators to muck in with you and lift an Escort out of a gully or standing at the flying finish as the cars fly past 3 feet away from you are all the sort of things you remember (you soon forget if it was cold or wet !)
So how about it, any interest ?

Hi all. This is for anyone thats interested in marshalling, experienced or a complete novice. If anyone wants to commit to going call Stevie Graham on 07970 321064 and give him your details.

---john---

Dinky, not so much pay, as, if you don't attend then I'll accidentally lose your application for the sprints this year.

Cheers,

Langy, i'm not 100% sure of the details but stevie basically said he would call me next week to confirm the exact details/times etc. as for location, well i aint been to kames before, at least i think it is being run there, where is john stevenson when you need him, john, your the man to answer the questions m8. if it is kames, i'll post for directions, dont think it to far really, ayreshire direction i believe.

r.s.grant, best i leave john to answer your questions but it aint a drivin course, its marshaling and involves first aid/rescue/fire fighting, i think ???. also gets your name on the list to marshal at the scottish sprint races etc, sounds good to me.

Guys, it's being held at Kames, I'll be going so you can follow me down if you wish. They'll be covering all aspects of Rally marshaling and Speed (Sprints and Hillclimb) marshaling. As Chrisy said, firefighting, rescue/recovery etc. I gather that the idea will actually be to hold a couple of Stages as well for that genuine effect. As for start times etc, it's something I've not even asked myself, I'll find out and post up.

Grant, I guess it would be around 100 miles for you. It's on the A70 in a village called Muirkirk in Ayrshire.

Attending this course means you will be a Licenced Grade 1 rally marshal
Er, I think you mean Grade 3 (cos Grade 1 is stage commanders etc). You need to have the registration form signed on behalf of a car club confirming that you have marshalled on three rallies as well.

Chrisy, where are you meeting JS and at what time? The quickest way for me is probably through Strathaven and up that way but if you give me a meeting place i'll be there. Probably six and half a dozen anyway

Out of interest, are you going to the SIDC day on Saturday as well??
