Anybody know what motorsport is going on in doune (perthshire) 2morrow. did not even realise there was a track up there.

 

It's a hill climb run by Lothian Car Club. Details here. From the M9 J10 at Stirling, take the A84 west towards Doune/Callander. Continue through Doune and the hill climb venue is about 1 mile further on on the right hand side. Also signposted to Doune Motor Museum, IIRC. Really can't miss it

Doune is one of the best Hillclimbs in Britain, fantastic track. howver one wrong move and yer fecked. Well worth going to see, practice is today with Racing tomorrow. Previous directions are spot on. Though the motor museum is no longer there. This is a counter in the scottish Hillclimb championship, the one in June is a British Champ counter, more exotica present.
I'll be going up tomorrow for a look, not entered, just to spectate this time

P.S. a big single seat Hillclimb car will out accelerate an F1 car

 

Yeh my m8 John is enterered so gonna go and give him support, not that he needs it but hey
Doune is a top hill climb event, and should be good with the weather too.
Definately a tricky track , seems to be in the shade all the time and can be a bit slick, causing a few "probs" for the unwary.

It'll kick off around 09:30-10:00 AM. Doug, couldn't tell you what the spectator charge is (new year, new prices and all that). Spooks, John wasn't at the practice today, you sure he's out tomorrow ?

for Spectating I'd recommend 'Garden Gate' or 'the Tunnel'

Spent all this morning there and really enjoyed spectating. Certainly agree with John that one wrong move would spell disaster. Took video shots most of the morning and reckon I must have caught most of the cars at some point. Was about halfway up the track just beside Eddie from Kames who was marshalling. Good selection of cars taking part. Headed back around midday to hit the roads with Skye. Holiday traffic was certainly starting to build up by then. Glad I was heading in the opposite direction.

 

Well, did any of you go ?

P.S. I misled you, it was a double header event with a race on Sat and a race on Sun

was a 50/50 bewtween doune and knockhill, decided to give kh a go but was a complete pile of mince, stayed for a very short time then left, only good point was a very nice 22b kickin *** on track inamoungst those crazy novas/fiestas.

I went along...it was my 1 year old daughters first taste of motorsport...thought she would be a rally head like her dad,,,but alas she screamed as the evo went blasting past.....which is fair enough I suppose...a well leave it another few months then...

 

saw a few scoobies there....but new to this so didnt know anybody......i was in the silver MY97 turbo ....nice and low although that could have been the easter eggs in the back...did see dk green turbo with gold wheels..whoever you are you wave at my wife every morning on causwayhead road stirling.....

 

Sounds like my car, but I'm not in Stirling waving at your wife in the morning.

 

Bummer, sounds like i made a booboo in choices, John, how's saturdays marshaling course looking ???, if it's still on i'll see you about directions.

BTW You passed me john on the wee road upto the M9. LMAO I pulled in a bit and you were off like a shot,my GF was commenting on it sommit along the lines of " ****.....are they really that fast???" to which I replied " nah some are faster"
