yes thanks to Jim and the crew
John, mines boost to 8 psi on road, wonder why it was at 6 psi on rollers , checked old graph with different diff and 7 psi old engine made 170 bhp with 181 lb.ft compared to this engine according to these rollers with shortened run time at 164 bhp with 174 lb.ft at 6 psi, but runs more stronger on road

yeah cheers pete for organising it.
was also disappointed with my reading. 261bhp car feels better than that.john reckoned it would have run 280 at power engineerings rolling road .got him to check it over with the laptop and it was running good. but got him to re map the ecu anyway to give me a bit more !!!!
dont think the heat helped either

Boost control on the rollers is a tricky one guys. They always run lower on the rollers, more so on a hot day, and the compensation doesn't allow for this. Hence some fairly low torque figures. The problem is if you set the boost control so that it always makes boost target on a hot day on the rollers it would overboost dangerously on the road. The problem is more in the midrange than at the top end because this is where the control is more careful to stop overboost, hence the torque is hit more than the power.
You can only compare figures on the rollers on the same day. Torque curves may come in a little later than the previous longer run length, so don't read them until after 4000 RPM IMHO. The alternative is a long run time which is very unkind to a tuned turbocharged car on a hot day. I think this roller setup is as good as we'll get locally, the figures are lower than elsewhere, but you'll whip any English boy's cars with the same figures on their dynos There are too many inflated dyno figures floating about down south IMHO. Star's figures give a healthy dose of reality.
Overall as useful as the dyno is, how it feels on the road is what matters at the end of the day and whether you enjoy the car.

What mods on your car?
The power at wheels will favour the lower geared car because the losses are lower at the same RPM, but it should be compensated for by the run down losses being plotted.
Thought Gordon's did 311 BHP?

Hi John
It has a VF23 Turbo with the LInk Ecu a full stainless exhaust with an uprated fuel pump.
Gordon
I agree with what you are saying totally. Car was looking sweet on sunday.

Anyway short n the long is if u wanna run I need u r info emailed to me before Monday. Details of car type / expected power / reg no. (this is for tying up pix IN WHICH THE REG NO. WILL BE BLANKED OUT with graphs only) the rest of details are for arranging the running order. Also please include u r Scoobynet alias
email it to teknopete@scoobymods.co.uk and make the title / subjet : dyno
Thanks 2 those of u who have sent their info already

Hamish,
Yeah I got it m8 the info supplied was fine.
Miles,
No problem, LOL i didn`t know bout that
BTW r u commin 2 this or not ? Don`t have any details from u yet if u r
Everyone,
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get u r info to me asap if u haven`t already done so. I`d hate to see folk turning up and not being able to have a run because they never confirmed they were comming.
Like-wise we don`t want to have to turn folk away thinking that the day is full, then some folk don`t turn up. Hence why we`re working it on the "no conirmation & details, then no-run" basis.
FYI
This is to be the only arranged en-mass dyno day for us at Star until quarter 3 (September / October) of this year. So if u snooze u lose

I hope it is not alang ,it would be great to have "the 3 scottish big guns" going for it on the same day.
with the new headers and the ability to run high boost he could take the day with andyf only able to run 1.45bar max and JB not having the headers.

I wonder if alan is having mobile problems?,I tried to call yesterday and got nothing too. I was supposed to meet him at k/hill with some studs but could not make it at the last minute.
if you see this alan, the studs will be posted monday(with enough stamps ). can't have you pulling out on sunday .
let battle commence

John,
When you say 400-430, are you meaning with the power corrected for intake temp or not? The last time I was there (Jan '03), they weren't doing the correction so I couldn't compare with 'Norm. power' from previous runs that I'd done that had been calibrated. Last time I got 420bhp but at an intake temp of 14C when the real figure was more like 26C. Therefore the 420 was quite conservative. I Could only really compare wheel output figures (but they're not so impressive!). Cheers,
Hamish

Hi Hamish
When we were there yesterday the temperature correction probe was working fine. It was set up on my air filter and read 27 degrees on run 1.
This added 11bhp to P-eng when considered in the DIN 70020 calculation along with the atmospheric pressure.

Craig,
It`s at Star Performance in Glenrothes. Next Sunday 01/06/03.
Kickoff looks to be around 09:30 IF EVERYONE GETS THEIR DETAILS IN
BY THE END OF TODAY (Monday) Otherwise we`ll need to start allocating spaces to the folk on the "standby" list who have supplied their info
BTW EVERY1 was warned about this so don`t be surprised if u r space is re-alloced in the event that u haven`t supplied info / confirmed attendance by email.
