Back me hols and need to get car back on road again - the Civic just isnt quick enough unfortunately. Big ends in engine have died RIP and I'm assessing some options for the car. One one of my options is to used a Premier engine from www.apiengines.com - not had time to investigate it. Checked out their site and they advertise Subaru engine fitment in its own specialised section - even offering samco hoses and hd clutch fitted at part price (no labour). I particularly am keen on the fully tested bit, and also that they use genuine subaru parts for any replacement - belts, internals etc.

Has anyone bought one of their engines (be it subaru or otherwise)? And if so, any probs from it?

Just assessing the 'drop a fully tested recon' vrs a 'rebuild own engine'. Cost and views of API will be a definate decider.

Cheers,
M-S

mods - can I keep this in Scotland for a short while, as local opinion (i.e. API outlets in SCO is more preferable to me.

Cool

Never bought an engine from them but spoke to David, the boss at API, a couple of times on the phone about parts. He seems very knowledgeable & helpful - his experience is based on lots of rebuilds - over 100 per year IIRC. Well worth giving him a call

oops, just to clear any possible confusion. The engine is needed for the Scoob, not the Civic.

Cheers for the reply guys.

haha - nah Alex - been on holiday. You got your bruiser back on the road yet?

I contacted David at API and I think I'll go with the rebuild option - seems pretty good and can be done for just over 3K all in. David is pretty clued up - and very positive.

So I'm off to mug some local neds (get one back for the good guys ) at the cashline.

£3k sounds a lot of money! We had a rebuild done my Midland Impreza for a little over a grand on a RA. No probs since then.

I'm in the same boat :-

Forged Pistons - Forged Rods - Set of rings - AP clutch - Flywheel - APR head stud set - Uprated Big ends & main bearings - Uprated oil & fuel pumps - Fuel Regulator - AFR gauge - Oil pressure gauge - Knocklink & sensor - Full gasket set - Block de-glaze & hone - Over £3k so far
