Folks, i dont own a Scooby as you may have seen from another thread.I like the cars ( well some of them anyway )but i have been looking at various sources and for sale sections and am a little confused.What i need to know is why should i spend my money on say maybe an STI V or VI when i can get the better looking and usually faster EVO.I do think the EVO looks better and can handle bigger power so why is the Scooby around the same price of an EVO V or VI.I know that the EVO handles better and loOks better ( as i have driven both ) so why should i invest my hard earned cash on an STI V.I need to know why you guys stuped your cash on the Scooby and not an EVO or am i missing something....

I don't mean to be rude but, why do people buy an FTO? Why does people by the cars they have? I personally think you're on another wind-up mission.

However, if you are serious regarding you're question then I guess it's up to the individuals choice. As I said before, why did you buy an FTO and not a Scooby or an EVO?

Why not post on the MLR forum saying you don't understand EVO owners buying EVOs and not Scoobies or FTOs?

So i'll just leave it at that and let others decide.............

I don't regard my opinion as stupid, that's the reason I bought mine, because I liked it. Simply as that, nothing to do with what it can or can't beat, what it can or cannot outbrake etc, etc, etc.

I too have driven EVOs, FTOs, GTOs as well as all the cosworth range, standard and non-standard before buying my scooby. And at the end of the day, I chose the scooby because it was a personal choice, something just clicked that I liked. A bit like getting married, you don't get married because of how she performs(maybe some people do but I don't), it's usually something you like and/or made it click.

So, i don't regard myself as being aggressive to anyone, as those who know me will know, and I don't think waht I said was a stupid opinion.

Hey Mark, glad you came back considering. Pity about the 'other' post as it was quite interesting, if not a little macho.

I'll answer the question - I bought a scoob purely for the iconic factor (one of the first STI made) - its a very good car, and yes there are better and worse cars out there that are similar to it the turbo-awd-saloon set up. I probably would've taken an EVO (6 are the coolest IMO, yes IMO) but the ole servicing £ knocked it squarely on the head, and they are definately holding their value. Mind you - if really pushed, I take neither of them - purely for IMO, yes IMO.... best car on the road - Skyline R33 GTR V-spec (I'd have an R34 but robbery is not an option).

The scoob/EVO thing is always pretty much 'neck and neck' every new release - it comes down to preference and feel. I think the question is a good one - after we should still be objective, even if we have chosen the better side LOL!!

The wheels are white on my photos (Black EVO) - nice quick changeover I never noticed

 

Had slicks or worn on the white rims but changed when the rain stayed on?

Thats a bit more like it folks.I did really mean what i say when asking why buy your Scooby? I bought the FTO after trying out several cars.The Pulsar was just too damn ugly but it felt great to drive and was reasonably quick ( standard car ).The Scooby ( UK model )was nice and comfortable but i just didnt know enough about them ( heard the usual horror stories ).The EVO V was a bit pricey but felt great.I settled for the FTO for its looks and decided to stick to fingures up to hitting high speeds.After havig the FTO for a while it became boring so i started to mod it, for looks, handling and speed.I can never really get my car up to the outright performance of a high spec Scooby but im happy with it at the moment ( im considering to turbo conversion which is getting fitted to a test car just now )this should see me with almost an extra 50% at the flywheel but at the end of the day thats not why i bought it.

I know thee has been a bit of winding up on here but this is partly down to me and partly down to the reputation you guys get on other forum..lol.....I`ll be serious from now on--well most of the time...

Dont know about anyone else but I bought my Scoob as I did not think it was worth spending the equivalent on the car I always promised myself - A clean late model, low mileage Escort Cosworth. With the change I still have, I will be able to buy a new ZX10r next year )

And yes, I think the scoob is ace. Evos and STi's are awesome when modded, but my UK Turbo does me just fine!

Just need to find a good exhaust for it as it sounds way too quiet without one! Any recommendations?!!

I have a TSL fire storm on my my98 turbo, very loud but sounds the business.Highly recommended.

 

Firestorm is great, if you want loud, but there's loads out there that are better.
Best do a search in Drivetrain for your answers.
