I now have more details of the TVR/Inter-Marque karting challenge at Raceland, east of Edinburgh off the A1. Unfortunately, we will have to ask for deposits for this event, and places may be limited.

The way Raceland takes bookings appears to have changed a little; they seem to be wanting to pack more events [revenue] into each day. Fair enough if things run on time then What it means though is that we can’t just book a minimum number then add more on the day. We have to commit to 16 places or 30 – so if we end up with 24 people we’d still have to pay for 30! We therefore need firm numbers so we need to ask for deposits, and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The first 16 definitely get to race therefore. Presuming we get another 14, then you all race too. After that, there would be no more places. If we don’t get close to another 14 slots, then we’ll just have to run with 16 drivers and refund deposits of the latecomers.

The deposit will be £20. Please make cheques payable to Raceland, and sent to:
Noel Flannery
39 Eskview Crescent
Musselburgh
EH21 6NY

Do not send cheques directly to Raceland.

The balance of £29 will be payable on the day. If we get a full complement of 30 drivers you will get a few pounds back though!

I’m about to go off for 10 days, so emails/web sites won’t get looked at for a wee while. Please send cheques to Noel ASAP though. You can call him on 07980 652447 if you have any queries.

Just to confirm, the event will be on Sunday, November 23 at 15:00. The event will take the form of a ‘standard’ grand prix with drivers getting a practice, 3 heats, and for the lucky ones a final too. The usual Raceland trophies etc for 1st, 2nd and 3rd drivers therefore. In addition, each driver will represent their ‘marque’ [they either own one, or are in the club]. The top scores for each marque will be added up and the winning marque will win a crate of beer, plus respect from all the others! A separate drivers and ‘constructors’ championship then!

So, get them deposits in the post PDQ!

Thumbs up

Come on everyone - this will be a fantastic event

Lets show the other marques that the Subaru owners are the best drivers out there by winning the beer

I've got to confirm some plans at work (I'll be working about half the weekends for about the next two months), but assuming all is OK, I'll send my cheque through on Monday.

Excellent Dave - I assume you'll be representing the Subaru drivers

It looks OK for for me as well, so my cheque will be in the post tomorrow.

I'd say you'll be there for 2 - 3 hours in total - perhaps a bit longer if your marque wins the beer and proceeds to drink the spoils of victory
