Question Johnston Car Dealer

Anyone dealt with or heard anything about County Motors. They have 2/3 Imprezas that might be worth a look.

Did they have an advert in the freebie papers you get at filling stations?
Or was it in the Auto Trader?
I think I've contacted them in the past, to go and see a scoob.
However, when I arrived they weren't exactly busting at the seams with stock.
In fact it looked as if they were just about to shut down!
They had a tidy Impreza sport, but that wasn't what I was after.
Left them my moblie number, but they never got back to me.
I'm sure it's the same mob m8. Just be careful

I bought an Rs turbo from them about 5 yrs ago & it was minted (a L8 H reg diamond white with 30K), though they did advise me it was a customers car, mileage was correct & car was totally standard. I didnt have any problems with them or the car.
As for the stock, they have a little showroom (a bit dated also), & they keep a stock out the back as well, but as above they also sell vehicles on behalf of customers.
Its the same with any 2nd hand garage "always beware"

I was through a couple of weeks ago to see an escort cossie with a m8, the place looked bare with no cossie in sight. Spoke to a caretaker and he said it was just taken over by some new guy who was in the middle of organising the place, phoned the mobile no. on the door but no answer. Place didn't look promising though.

From memory they tend to put impressive cars in their advert, but when you phone up they, tell you it's just sold, but ask for your contact details, so they can get back to you.
You don't lose anything by going to have a look. The more people you have looking out for a particular type/age of car, the better.
Just phone in advance to make sure it's still there.
And a word of warning, if you are tempted to go for a test drive ANYWHERE make sure that there will be someone there to take you out in it and that the car is mobile/roadworthy before you go.
(Been caught out a couple of times with this problem - not at County Motors though)

don't know if it's still run by the same folk but a friend of mine bought a car off them about 10 years ago. It was not roadworthy. Admittedly my mate was at fault for not fully checking it out but for a trader to sell a car in this condition was criminal.
