Ideas for a weekend break
Hi guys.
I'm looking for somewhere to take my missus for a weekend, ideally within 3 hours of Glasgow. We're looking for something self catering and pretty quiet(a pub nearby would be nice though.) It'll be in early May we go I think.
Anyone got any recomendations?
Cheers
Brian

Got to recomend the Lake District
Plus points are, only about two hours from Glasgow, brilliant scenery, lots of Scoobies around there, lots to do and see and there is a massive choice of places to stay, eat, drink.
Me and the wife are down there atleast twice if not three times a year.
I would say that Boness on Windermere is the best place to be as it is right at the lake, has shops, pubs etc and lets you dump the car and take the boat to the lovely towns/villages around the shores.

I did this a couple of years back as i had a 8mnth old, went to corpach just outside fortwilliam and had a great time. Hired a cottage through blakes cottages and chilled out for a week. Defo recommended with some amazing roads all around the area.

Ditto Lake District. Stayed in a couple of Jennings pubs - D,B and B for long weekends - reasonable prices, excellent pub grub and nice ales.
If you like it quieter than Windermere, Kendal or Keswick try the areas further South + West towards the coast. Should be a bit cheaper too.
Fabulous scooby roads, and Jennings pubs do good food and great beer.
