ran the car to work had a mate follow car he reports there is black smoke a poppin out the exhaust now and again engine hunts (like a missfire) about 60 -70 just over 5 psi (1994wrx import full decat)any good diagnoistic centre,s in aberdeen area or any ideas?

how long have you had the car m8? and how is it fuelled? was there any other mods done in japland???

 

had the car 2 years ,full decat,itg panel filterwa spreviously only ran on normal ul with 1 tank super every month i have ran on optimax since with millers cam belt replaced at 80,ooo miles as previous owner thought it was kms no idea of previous japland mods i have now replaced maf seems to be better but needs an expert(s) to have a look at

might be an idea to get a universal lambda sensor as a possible prob. not saying thats it, but it'll narrow down the possibilities. you can get one from any motor factors. cvosts about £35. all you need to let them know is how many wires are in it. IIRC it has 3 wires. just plumb it into the old wiring and let the car heat up for about 10 mins, take it a good run and see what it's like.
