Would anyone be interested in a Godspeed 335mm kit
Just testing the water, but I'm considering Px'ing my RB5 for a new STI. Obviously, the Dealer would like my car in std trim so I'd be taking off some mods (non-engine), including a Godspeed 335mm kit.
trying to work out if it's worth all the hassle and if anyone in Central Scotland would be interested. Kit has been on the car for about 7 months, but there's plenty of life left in the discs and pads (Ferodo DS2500's).
Would need to replace kit with Subaru 4-pots, discs and pads so that's the only issue.

The Godspeed kit has 335mm discs. It's a two-piece kit with seperate disc and alloy bell. The kit uses a couple of spacers to "expand" the caliper and allow the thicker disc to be used. There's also a bracket which pushes the caliper away from the wheel hub to accomodate the large diameter disc.
The kit uses a larger pad (still fits the OE Subaru caliper) and makes use of the whole surface of the large disc.
It's a BIG improvement over standard, without the price of an AP kit (i.e. it's half the cost). If you do a search on here you'll find loads of comments.
I live in Lanarkshire, but work in West Lothian. If anyone wants to have a look and a demo they're more than welcome.
The biggest difference (other than shorter stopping distance) is their ability to withstand a lot of abuse.
Dougster,
Thanks m8. The biggest hassle will be the calipers and whether I need to have them dismantled or not. It would be good to find another 4-pot owner as we could swap the kit straightover.

Just to add, I would have sold the car with the kit already fitted, but the Dealer was a bit put off with the idea. He seemed to think it might be harder to sell than one with OE brakes. Go figure

It's not for definite. Don't know what I want right now to be honest.
One minute I want a car, next I'm content with my RB5, next I want a house
Yes, I want one. Whether my heart will decide or I give myself a good slap of reality will ultimately decide. If I do, it'll have to have the suspension sorted, the PPP and better wheels that's for sure, Add all that to a new car and the WR1 starts to look cheap and attractive.

I'm interested dependant on cost involved on my behalf Stefan. I have shiney red 4 pots with brand new (not even fitted yet !!) Tarox discs and 1144 pads.
If you could PM me with a figure i'll do my very best not to politely decline. Just thinking that perhaps i've spent enough money in that department already of late...

Ross,
Not sure if I can be @rsed with the hassle and no-one on here has had much luck selling a 2nd-hand Scooby lately. If someone is interested, then I am more than happy to sell it.
Just for the record and if anyone out there is interested, my car spec (as it stands) is as follows:-
May registered MY99 RB5 (non Prodrive) #156
Private T-plate registration
67,500 miles (majority motorway commuting)
Full Dealer Service History - already had cambelt changed
Just had it's last small service yesterday (14/04/04)
Owned from new (Fraser Anderson, Stirling)
Non-smoker and as good as new inside
I've also just replaced both PIAA lenses and re-painted the PIAA lamps and brackets, so it's been well looked after
Spec. above std
Godspeed 335mm Front brake kit + Ferodo DS2500 pads
Godspeed Grooved & Vented Rear Discs + std Kevlar pads
TSL Group N Downpipe
TSL Decat centre
STI backbox
Knocklink
SPA Digital Oil Pressure/Temp Gauge
Autometer Boost Gauge
Cusco Front Strut Brace
Whiteline 22mm Adjustable ARB
Whiteline sold Front & Rear droplinks
Alpine CDR-1505 Headunit
Infinity 605cs Front Speakers
Alpine 2-channel Amp (Autoleads Amp wiring kit)
Additional Grounding Points
Carbon Headlight Protectors
Subaru Fog Light Protectors (fitted to PIAA lamps)
Usual de-tango'ing stuff (Clear front indicators, Clear side repeaters & Painted orange wedges)
I've pics on my website, including all the instructions when I fitted any of the above upgrades.
I have all the original parts (except std Subaru front discs/pads), so the car would go back to standard for the Dealer or if any potential buyer wanted it that way.
If anyone wanted to see it, I stay in the Motherwell area and work in Livingston.

Kit new is £650 with the Ferodo pads. Going rate 2nd-hand seems to be no more than £400, but it all depends on what life's left in the disc and pads although the main bulk of the costs are in the alloy bells, spacers and brackets.
Open to offers really.

OK, I'll let you know Kev. can't make up my mind whether to sell or not. The main reason I'm looking to change is purely based on age and milage of my car. The new STI certainly doesn't feel hugely faster than my RB5. Maybe in a straightline, but not across country blats on B-roads.
If I do trade her in I might use yourselves to strip the car for me. Just have to weigh up the costs vs hassle doing it myself since I've no garage and the weathers **** just now.

Last time I spoke to you, you were talking about selling her. Scoobies have a funny habit of doing that to people. I've been tempted to sell mine twice and couldn't part with her.
John B's seems well impressed with his new P1 suspension, so I'll be surprised if you have to change a lot to you car. Unless your after some handling circuit scalps to

were you at Bryson's garage in Prestwick a couple of weeks ago, with your bonnet up over at the air line?
I pulled in to go to the cash machine in a silver wagon, can't remember exactly what night though.
