Default Anyone Going To the Hillclimb rally at Doune this weekend?

Hillclimb rally at Doune this weekend (Sat and Sun)
Interesting car line up including Westfield Megabusa, Intergrale's, Cossy's,
Formula 3 cars and various contraptions designed to get you up a hill very quickly, only restriction is no nitrous....should be interesting.

Thought I'd let you guys know.

I'm interested as well. I've never been before, what's the full rundown on the event. Location (Where in Doune?), times, where to park? What's diff between Sat and Sun, as I can only make it along on Sunday.

Thanks...John

John - it'll be at the old car museum just outside Doune on the right hand side (as if you're heading to Callander). Plenty of car parking on site.

Went along a few times in my youth! Remember seeing an ex-F1 Footwork car there , along with an RS200 on the hill climb

I'll be there (spectating unfortunately). Not competing as my car is not yet in one piece. Doune is an excelent spectator venue as you are only 10 feet from the cars. For the best action, Oak Tree, Garden Gate or the tunnel usually see the most Armco Damage. For a real spectacle go to the British Championship event there later in the summer. The current crop of top hill climb cars will show a clean pair of heels to a poncy F1 car.

Spooks, what time you heading up. Fancy a wee convoy? Maybe start another thread for a wee meet, then travel up to Doune.

That's the one mate! Just follow that road, you'll hit Doune and then it's about a mile or so the other side of Doune on your right hand side.

Haven't a clue on the website front unfortunately

Not sure if I'll be able to make it now as I've got someone coming to view the Cup on Sunday and

Website here although not a huge amount there.

Haven't been to Doune that often recently - marshalled at most meetings from late 80s to early 00's. It is a special place though. The June 2000 meeting when Graeme Wight jnr took 1.5 secs off the hill record in one day (that's between 3 and 4%) is one of my best motorsport memories. Laterly used to marshal at post 4 (Garden Gate) usually - but post 3 was the scariest place in the world!
