Default Wallace performance, Ecutek

My grandparents have a holiday home thingy in Nairn (down at the beach) I was planning on having a weekend away there this week.

I've just bought my 03 STI ppp and i must say i'm very very impressed.

I wondered if it would be a good idea to let her go shopping in aberdeen.... lol whilst i go and check out some car stuff... i'll not be telling her anything about a remap!! would people recomend them (wallace performance). Anyone on here have first hand experiance?

Not had any experiance with Wallace or Andy for that matter.
I have spoken to Andy, driven his car and seen his results accross the country, so I know he can produce the goods.
I dont undersatand ,however, how Wallace can have such a bad reputation but still be using the Ecutek products. Would they not have had it taken from them if they cant produce good results??

Just my thoughts.

IMHO Andy Forrest is the man for Scooby ecutek maps.

That said i know one lad, who has had his scoob done by Russ @ Wallace and he has set it up REALLY well.

Russ knows his stuff, i agree, And especially Evo's.

Scoobs, Andy F is without doubt the man for them.

(Russ this is no dig at you at any way shape or form m8.)

I take it your a mate of willox, I cant for the life of me think why you would want wallace to map your car ?

Also, if you dont stick your car on the rollers how do you know what its making ? wallace got an engine dyno now have they ?

All of a sudden turned into engine builders ?

I know for sure willox would recommend a proper ecu and a proper mapper for your evo, sam elessar, mark shead or gaz @ cpp.

And i might also add that the flat 4 is a total different monster to map than a straight 4.

Its not always about getting more out of it, its about having safe, reliable set ups, with a certain level of saftey margin built in, better to be backed of a tad, that right on the edge!!

Having seen evo's running 99 to 100% IDC Now that is on the edge IMHO.

Never seen that in a scoob mapped by AndyF, thats one safety margin right there.

Surely you dont need me to tell you Andy Forrest runs 210mph scoob, also running 9.2 second 1/4's

Flys all over the globe mapping scoobs, I guess he must be pretty good at it eh?

No i think if you ask Russ about me and my scoob, you will find i am far from in to rolling road days, Ask him about Knockhill (yawn)

Bottom ends popping? New one to me..............p1's aye but not Sti's

For someone of your claimed age, levels of knowledge and your wonderful written english, it surprises me that you even have the nerve to talk about something you clearly know nothing about.

Away back to yer Lancer site Ta Ta

As for the flat 4 monster, where are there 9.2 quarter mile times? Where is there 210 mph cars?

ssccccchhhhhhh (yawn)

lets you see what you know then they do map real ecu,s there doing my mates mr evo thats autronics and my one too and for my scoob it went bang well before wallace was created. iam going back near 10 year when scoobs were rare only three in abz , and ecutek flash aint garbage we are seeing 300 bhp evo,s jumping too 370+ but then you cant do that with a scoob lucky if you reach 300 and that will cost you an arm and a leg

My 300+hp at 1.1bar cost me 5k and that included the car. Generally i could get most Imports up to the 300 mark reliably for a lot less than an arm and a leg

Your precious Evo is flawed in the handling dept. The engine and box sit in front of the axle giving the car a natural tendancy to understeer. This is the reason the mighty Evo has the computer processing power of NASA to counter this understeer characteristic, sad Mitsu****i. It needs all the yaw sensors and slip sensors in Southern Sudan to get the handling anywhere near the level of a Subaru, again sad Mitsu****i. So please do not insult us by saying an Evo is superior in the handling dept to an Impreza

Imagine what level of handling the Impreza would have if it was fitted with the same system as the Evo. Just go find a video of the Prodrive P2 with its active diff system but we dont have that level of technology on our road cars, we have to rely on the fact that the car has tons of natural grip due to its superior drivetrain/engine layout

I have personally seen a good few Evo's with a broken bottom end, so your precious Evo is not invincible to bottom end failure.

Would love to see AndyF up against the Norris car
or
The Rigoli 1000bhp drag car against the top drag Evo from Japan
or
AlanG's old car on the dyno against the best stealth 500hp+ Evo
or
JohnSt on the hill climb against pretty much any Evo
or
Wilky on any back road in his WRC engined STI RA against pretty much any Evo on the planet.........no contest
or
Andyjdmsti's car in a "who's meaner looking" against any Evo in the world

Hope you get my drift or do i need to explain it in txt speak for u

Because he has experience of me mapping his car at WP.
Do a little search on the MLR. You never know, you might learn something.

Obviously another nice informed decision there. Ecutek is more than adequate for 99.9% of fast road cars. The standard ecu's in Evos and Scoobs since around the turn of the century are extremely flexible and tunable.

Excelling yourself here. We can and do map; Gems, Motec, Autronic (no "s"), Emerald, DTA, Omex, Ecutek, Power FC, Greddy Emanage, Wolf 3D, Haltech, AEM and probably just about any other ecu you can think of.

And which ones are the real ecu's?!

Fine. You have a right to choose. Just don't attempt to make choices for other people when you clearly don't have all the information.
