Cool Aberdeen Newage Sti owner saying hello!

Hi people,

Dropping in to introduce myself and my new car, took a long time coming but it is here...eventually!

Took the step and bought my first Subaru.......a 2002 JDM WRX STI in WR blue. Loving the car and it came with a couple of quality upgrades which was nice!

Coming from a string of various fwd hot hatches, a bmw hack and finally a 5th Gen Prelude Motegi the Scoob is my first 4wd turbo'd car. I was looking at various other machines but I guess an STI was just an itch I had to scratch I only do limited mileage so the trips to North Anderson Drive's finest purveyor of V Power shouldnt be too often

Engine wise the car is pretty standard with the only thing changed under the bonnet being a Greddy BOV. HOWEVER the car has HKS fully adjustable suspension and 17" Racing Hart CP035's (unmarked) wrapped in sticky Yokohama's. Did a bit of research on the wheels and they seem to be very very sought after due to them being significantly lighter than oem rims, iirc each wheel in 8 x 17 only weighs 13.6lbs, do any of you Scoob experts know how this weight compares to the oem wheel?

The ride/handling is certainly very tight with the HKS setup but it is still reasonably complient but I guess half the fun will be finding a set up which will suit Aberdeens shall we say varied quality of surface!

The car has covered 46k miles so was coming up for a belt change, part of the deal before I took the car was for a 50k service to be done and for new pads to be fitted all round, this was done but the pads that have been put on are EBC Red stuff, seem to work very well but squeal at the rear when using them gently, hopefully will go when bedded....has anyone has exp of these pads on a bug eye?

The car is spotless inside and out with only a couple of stone chips needing touched up to be perfect.

Prior to getting the car I did my homework (months of forum browsing!) and realised that these car must be fed correctly and/or remapped to our weaker uk fuel.
I have been in touch with Andy F and Wallace Performance to get their thoughts on fuel/remap issues and they have recommended that the car is fed V power and 1/2 bottle of NF Race per tank, I will probably look at getting it remapped/uprated fuel pump next month. Up til then it will be V Power and octane booster all the way!

I will be spending tomorrow detailing the car with Meguiars 3 step polish and get it looking and will try and get some pic's/video's up so you can have a squint

Hope I havent bored you to death, I look forward to keeping you up to date on the progress of the car,

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi there,
I have a JDM Sti9 (2005) and also live in Aberdeen. I run my car on V Power, but carry octane booster just incase I get stuck somehwere wih only std unleaded available.
Brian Downie looks after my car, he is brilliant. My car is standard apart from an STi boost guage. Suspension is hard for our roads, but is fantastic when it needs to be, just put your teeth back in and your fine!

Lets see a picture!
