I currently have a 03 wrx impreza bug eye.

I have just fitted a hks ssq dump valve, cold air induction kit and magnex sti downpipe, 3" middle section and 4.5"tail on the car.

Just wondering what kind of gains i can expect with and without a re map.

I am more interested in knowing without a re map as i am SKINT after buying that DP

very little gains TBH, ohh BTW you might want to get it mapped sooner rather than later with the induction kit too or it could all end in tears

Yes get it mapped or you could be learning another expensive lesson when the engine goes bang!

Induction kits are not recommended without a map, neither are the decats you've mentioned.

Basically the induction kit will totally screw up the air/fuel mixture and the decat will remove back pressure from the exhaust system which can lead to overboosting/boost spikes. Both can destroy your engine with little to no warning.

Vent to air BOV won't help either as the car expects the air to be in the system not purged to atmosphere...

Without a remap, benefits will be small, the ecu just won't take advantage, with a remap you are looking at almost 300bhp i would think. The induction kit and BOV are still unesscessary though, standard airbox is good for 350bhp at least.

p.s. this is worst case, you might be fine but to be honest i had my decat done and drove the short distance to Andy F off boost just in case!

Induction kit = definate remap

However, a green panel filter and removing the resonator box in the wing is meant to give you the DV noise too and be safe for the car. Its my next mod

Additional - luckily for a remap you are wanting Andy F - one of the, if not THE best in the country and based just outside edinburgh!

AndyForrestPerformance have an look in North Ireland section on here too. They paid for him to go over and do mappign today with some excellent results.

I ran a 3" Meercat custom decat system with a induction kit for over 2yrs with out a map with no problems had it on a rolling road and the car was producing 256bhp/250lbs/ft, car wasn't running lean at any time. I have since had it mapped and is running 286bhp/279lbs/ft different beast all together. All i'm saying is don't be put off by the "you must get it mapped" attitude. Got to admit ditch the induction kit and get a decent panel filter, imho

ok, he might get away with it, he might not, its not a risk i would take TBH

 

detonation anyone? i was led to believe that a decat req an almost immediate remap and v power was a must if not also NF. i admit the map is costly but the difference in my car on the two boost settings are immense. however you will soon find being skint is part of the impreza owners way i have spent nearly 3k (altough 4ton of that was on a private plate) on my scoob in the 3 months i have had it and still have not touched the suspension or brakes.

3" snake head full decat system up pipe incl heat wrap & dragger exit (turbo spools 500RPM earlier)
walbro fuel pump
green filter (sti panel filter just as good, induction kit not reccommended)
hks ssqv vta (love it, no probs either)
intercooler y piece hoses
andy f remap

those are my engine mods 291BHP/301ft/lbs torque

you really need the map to bring all your mods together imo

also if you like to turn heads the map (if asked for) will make you motor pop bang and crackle like a demon add that to a VTA DV and you'll turn plenty of heads i know i do lol
