Bit vague I guess but what tyres are best and where should I buy them? I have a WRX MY01

Saw someone mentioned a place in Ayr that did performance tyres - (might even have been PERFORMANCE TYRES - not sure)

Any idea on prices??

Thought i'd put it on here rather than Wheels/Tyres for a local response.

Thanks.

Gamm

Gammon,

Let us know where u r m8 an I`m sure u`ll get some local replies.
4 reference I`ve always run Falkens on my Scoob (FK451 jnow)they are pretty hard wearing (even with the abuse i give them) and sure footed in the wet, never had any probs with them

I've been getting my tyres from a bloke that runs
a national tyre and exhaust centre in Edinburgh.
Allways use Toyo proxes, get two 205/50/16's for
150 quid fitted and balanced, which seems a fair
price to me. What about anyone else, interested to
know how much you have been paying.

Depends on how local you want them ! Jim Dickson tyres in Cumbernauld usually can't be beaten for Toyos (I have them on both my cars). I would recomend them highly (Supplier and tyres) as I'm sure a lot of peeps on here would. (01236-720205)

And Jim Dickson only charges 70 wrappers (inc. VAT valves & balancing - 205/50/16).

BTW, since you say you've got a WRX MY01, I assume you've just worn out your first set of Bridgestone RE 010s. If so, prepare to be amazed. Just why Subaru fit that crap on new cars amazes me; they are soooo bad. I can only assume they get them for about £10 each from Bridgestone. Tramlining gone, road noise reduced considerably. Looking forward to the wet (It's been dry sisnce I bought mine).

I'm sure i read in the Current Bun that ATS have a half price offer on Michelin 205/50/16s specifically for Imprezas. £64 each i think.
Surely worth lookin into

Thanks guys. I still have the standard fit tyres on, yes, and I have noticed some tramlining and grip in the wet isn't the best hence the reason I thought I would ask about.

I'm in Linlithgow so Cumbernauld is only 30 mins away. Looks like Jim Dickson will be getting a call. Not quite ready to change yet though.

Thanks again.

Gamm.

Gamm, give Jim a call a day before hand and he will ensure he has your size in stock. Tell him they are for an impreza, as he is getting a fair bit of business by refferal from here, it can only help us all with prices.

Where do you stay in Linlihgow as thats where I'm from!
I used to run a white MY97 scooby with 17" gold speadlines, now have a yellow Mitsi EVO 5 GSR.

What colour and model have you got, so I can give you a wave when I spot you

Cheers

Hello,

Sorry - been busy - Yeah i've seen you in Yellow evo. Do you sometimes park near that tanning place in the centre?

Mine's a WR Blue MY01 - totally standard but getting WR Sport Backbox fitted soon I hope :-) I'm out Springfield way.

Be nice to get a wave from someone around here. No-one ever waves. Only once I think from about 12 attempts. The wife thinks i'm a pratt but I keep trying.

That would have been me parked at the cross a while back!, yellow E5's are as rare as rockin horse droppings! I also live in Springfield but my car is garaged elsewhere. If you see someone in a white 5dr Mk3 Fiesta wave, it'll be me in the others halfs motor

Cheers

I'd echo the support for Jim Dixon - fabulous service from him and his team on Saturday morning for a replacement Eagle F1.
