Cool

Jer,

Have had a few big jobs done by AWD in Perth and can vouch for their service and price. (unlike some other places I could mentiom )Their mechanics are ex Subaru personnel and they also do discount for SIDC members
If u r interested give Grant, Dave or Mikey a phone on (01738) 633336 and ask 4 a quote (remember n tell them u r an SIDC member) any probs tell them I sent u

Pete

sorry for the cross post, I have posted this in Dealer and third party but think I will get a better responce here.

I have got to get a 60,000 mile service in my scooby. I have been quoted £410.00 inc VAT from a main dealer. How much do places like falkland performance charge for this sevice and what are the pro's and cons of getting it done by a third party. I live near Glasgow so Falkland performance is not too far away. Is there any others near Glasgow that anyone could recommend.

Cheers

Jeremy

I would phone around some more dealers to see if they're competitive. It's worth asking A F Noble (although in Penicuik) as they offer 10% SIDC discount and will also collect/return your car on the back of a truck.

I guess the only downside of using Falklands would be not having a full dealer service history, but if your cars over 3yrs old, I wouldn't bother too much about that.

I'd recommend S&S Services in Ayr (just down the A77) if you are near Glasgow (Tel 01292 880080) and want an official dealer to perform the service. They give SIDC discount on services as well

If you aren't worried about warranties etc, then Kenneth Brown Motorsport in Hillington come highly recommended as well (Tel 0141 882 6757).

Another place to get a quote from is AWD Motorsport in Perth (Tel 01738 633336).

If the dealer service history isn't important then I'd give Kenny Brown Engineering a call on 0141 882 6757.

They're based in Hillington and have always done a good job for me and at a reasonably price!

I have just phoned S&S in Ayr. They will do it for £353 inc vat or £327 if the gear and diff oil are okay. I work in Prestwick so they will pick the car up.

Just out of interest how much would falkland Performace or similar company charge for this service.

Cheers

Just give Falkland a Ring! tell what youve been quoted and see if they can compare!

Falkland look after my car, uk MY00 and ive been very happy!
its a 350 roundtrip for me!

What do they mean if the gear and diff oil are o.k? it should be changed regardless at 30000 and 60000! i thought anyway?

be carefull you dont want any corners cutting!

Question

Did you ask for one ??? My car's got stickers on it too, but I had to specifically ask for it after they sent the invoice.

I was told to ask for the discount when the car is booked in.

I have been able to get T&C Perth to reluctantly agree to pricematch AF Noble including the SIDC discount, but used Noble in the end. I am only doing it for the stamps. I would rather look after it myself with help from Falkland or AWD.
