Car Change Complete
#1
Just so you all know, I've finally replaced the scoob:
Rain Very Bad
So if you get waved at by the driver of this car it's me The scoob owner I waved to on Friday night at the Charringcross Shell station looked a bit amused.
Picked it up early afternoon on Friday in Sheffield, then travelled via Leeds, Manchester, Preston, Glasgow, Perth until a forced stop at Burnam (sp?) (around 11:30 on Friday night), Inverness, Fort William then Glasgow to rack up the better part of 1,000 miles for its first weekend. The poor car is feeling a little tired at the moment, in its previous 10 years it only managed 10k miles, so it doesn't really know what has hit it

LOL, If only it weren't for my post count I might have re-registered
Engine Spec:
Ford 2.0L Mk2 RS2000 PINTO
Twin 45 'Dellorto's', Twin K&N Filters
Grp A Big Valve Head, Gas Flowed
Kent Cams 'FR32 Fast Road'
Luminition Electronic Ignition (with not working rev limiter )
It isn't as quick as it sounds, my old Impreza would murder it in a straight line. I'd guess at 7sec 30-70. Hopefully it just needs setup as with 140bhp in 570kgs it should be reasonably quick, much more fun to drive at sane speeds (in the dry) than the scooby.

I used to earn a livin building these engines for race cars
If it's a decent head, throw that cam away and fit a Burton BF63 with their springs. With a proper size 4:2:1 GpA manifold it will run 180 bhp no probs on 45's.
As John said, this will make even a modified Scoob/EVO look silly on the straights and with decent tyres, take the P*** on the bends too

Look forward to seeing the wee beastie in the metal mate - bet you're glad the snow has gone now though!
Although, I'll admit I'm not as keen as John
for a shot

I'll bow to your superior knowledge, bring on those Imprezas & Evos
It's already got a Burton head and a 4:2:1 exhaust, I have a huge ring binder with all the paperwork in it and the only suspension stuff I can find in it is that it has adjustable Spax shock absorbers.
What difference to power delivery will that cam make? currently it makes peak power at just over 7,000rpm, if the power comes in much later the thing will have to be called a VTEC
Chris, I too was slightly concerned by John's enthusiasm

The BF63 cam builds the midrange without any tail off up top.
I used this in my National Hot Rod running 48s & 11.5:1 CR With short oval racing, good torque out of the bends is how you win races, it pulled real hard from about 4000 with peak power of 195 bhp at 6300rpm.
