Thanks for Kames today, a shame it was so quiet on track, but enjoyable none the less (when I wasn't testing out the westies off-road abilities anyway) Hopefully a few more people will be there next time.

Good to see a couple of new faces turn up and brave the track (I suspect the Elise driver (sorry if you read this, but my memory of names is poor) was trying to work out a way of taking the whole track home with him, having spent so much time on it but having been out as a passenger with him I can understand why as it seemed to suit the car perfectly)

It was my second time I have had my Yellow Lotus Elise S2 on Kames and found it quite different going the other way around (Anti-clockwise today). Was aiming on finishing what left hand tread I had befoe getting new tyres this week so thought it was going to be clockwise. The first time I went there was a couple of weeks ago in glorius sunshine, and I loved it so much I jumped at the chance to have another go. Did think of trying to get a set of keys made but John didn't put them done for long enough!!.

Was first on, and last off, and had a "FEW" runs during the day, but in fairness there was very little queues and it wouldn't have been right to have a track empty for longer than five minutes.

Conditions were a bit different today with the track being changeable all day long due to light rain coming and going. However this meant that the track was empty more!! The Elise is great fun on this track and well suited to it. Still I had a job breaking through the 90 second barrier but eventually cracked it on a couple of runs. Tried to take plenty passengers out and even managed one 90 second session with a passenger which pleased me.

Thanks again and looking forward to the next one. (anybody got a spare set of Kames keys I could borrow!!) I am sure I will see some of you again on my second Knockhill track day in July. Will try not to spin it this time!

Didn't go on track today (for some pathetic reason) despite John's attempts to persuade me - next time mate.

Peter, don't say you trusted the RichS navigational system? You'd have been better off heading off in completely the wrong direction to start with, at least that way you'd know you were lost

 

It is a pity on 11 cars went on the track, 137 times were recorded and are available to anyone that would like a copy. The little lotus logged 34 times (not bad for £20).

Hopefully more will appear on 26 may.

LOL oddly enough it was such a long journey, i had a really bad neck strain i was amazed i could summon the energy to get out of my car

I had a great time, at one point (during the rain) there was only Iain in the Elise and me and my brother venturing out on the track.

Managed to get my time from 1:04 to 0:90 in 8 goes and only mowed the grass once

thanks for the good 1/2 day in my case, managwed to get times down from 117 secs to 100 secs now, could go aloy quicker if i could get traction was wheelspinning at everycorner and lost it twice in good style, espicially after leaving 2 yre marks at the bottom of the track near the pit area

Let me add my thanks to John & co for organising a good day. Thanks to Stan for emailing the results, looks like I need to be quicker off the line. Got my shiney new tyres and tracking adjusted back in, so maybe they'll help give me some more grip. It was great to get out on a track in the car and get a feel for what it can do and when it will cry enough.

If anyone has pics of today, esp my car (or video) please email me.

Enjoyed the wee tussle today John, a good launch makes a difference. Also a good rule of thumb is to leave the fat passengers in the padock as my last six runs will testify to. Anyone want to own up to being the pie eater responsible for 88.19 ?

 

You must have a real heavy weight in car john, and it wasn't me as the sheet sows you have a 89.21

 

I know who 89.21 was...he's not on here.

Just thought I would comment about Kames. The standard of driving was very high. Most notable was the Yellow Elise and the White Wagon Sti. bloody hell could those cars shift. Also thanks to John for showing how the track timing gear worked, most helpful for a newbie like me. Best bit was seeing Robs Land Rover with bodykit.. Ohh sorry it was a westfield acting like a land rover. using the track for rally cross. Well thanks to all. and next time I'll take mine on. The wagon with the scooby doo in the back.
