Well looks like the committee of SIDC just killed their forum. Non paying members no longer able to view or post on any of the sections

 

I`ve been disappointed with it for some time hardly go on it now!

 

Noticed this tonight mate. nuts! The beginning of the end i think.

Thankfully everyone can still see the event for Higgy.

deleted bookmark, didnt use as much as used too.

Cant see their logic but thats hardly a first.

 

There were some cracking good people on there in the south west section, but didn't much like the way the site was being run - got accused of being a troll actually so not been back since

 

Theres Scottish Scoobies to log onto which is a great forum and would be warmly welcomed

 

I kind of feel the same about the forum and now cant log in. Its a shame coz the forum was extremely active a number of years ago

I was a member of SIDC for 13 years although haven't paid my membership for 9 years as nothing happening in north east /west england but still liked to pop on to read about stuff

The biggest thread on there was a 7 pager last week when ordinary members complained about the club and structure
Now everyone is banned who do not pay the membership fee

Sidc have just signed their own death warrent with a policy like that

 

I rarely went on there even when I was a paying member ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz snooze fest

SIDC hasn't been the same since Phil Stephens stepped down as Chairman tbh

 

Somebody has lost the plot. Kicking out some of the longest serving members over night without any warning what so ever because they are not paid up members, sounds like a great idea.

 

With forums that's the idea of moderators
If you have trouble you deal with it with constructive arguments against the aggressor

If need be you can lock the posts

You can delete or edit the post

You can ban the user Short or permanent

But to stop everyone who isn't a paid member for viewing threads is crazy with no hope for the future as new members is the lifeblood of any forum or club for expansion

 

I left SIDC years ago for this very reason, it seems to have gone from bad to worse now. Not very inviting for new members and hugely inconvenient for those who have participated for years. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Well done

 

Yep, I too was surprised by the sudden decision. I have been both a paid up member and just a 'viewing' member since 2004ish.

I stopped renewing my membership as wasn't really getting any benfit from discounts etc.

It hasn't been the same for years now. Scottishscoobies.co.uk was a brilliant forum. The first forum I used for Subaru related info, full of good people and plenty of characters. I don't think many use it now? You could go weeks/months without logging on and still find the same threads on the first page. Disappointing.
