Blackjax
Perhaps someone can advise, I have read a few threads on scoobynet about Blackjax not being Thatcham approved and insurance companies not paying out if the car is damaged as a result of the system activating.
Surely if you buy say a Clifford Concept 500/600 (Thatcham Approved) then as this includes Blackjax as standard (according to cliffords website) then surely the Insurance Company would pay out?

Catherine: I have got a Concept 500 with Blackjax.
This is how it goes, Thatcham wont give a CAT1 certificate for devices that immobilise a car when its in use.
So switched off it passes the CAT1 compliance.
Tell your insurance company that you would like to raise the security level and use Blackjax and they will confirm that its OK to use it.
Then your have a car is very hard to steal.
Just make sure that its fitted well by an approved dealer that has been recommended to you.

If you have a BJ fitted stand alone then your existing CAT1 alarm is not affected so insurance will not be a problem. Thatcham's probelm is that they have not yet decided how to approve a device that can cut the engine and possibly leave the car in a dangerous position on a road.
