Or is that "not what you meant"?
My comment was simply that your default position seems to be, "give them some of our money, they are worse off than us" and wondered if that meant we should give to the USA too?
That IS your default position, isn't it?

Hang on......It was you two who tried to tell me that the USA was sooooooo much worse off than the UK?
Or is that "not what you meant"?

As for throwing money at a problem, that's never been my default position on anything. So how you came to that conclusion is any bodies guess.

Because every time I say hang about, we need to hold on to OUR money and lok after OUR poor, someone, you or others, comes on and tells me there's poorer so we should give to them, and let our poor starve, go without jobs, go without treatment for healthcare, go homeless etc etc.
Because it's somehow the "right" thing to do????
Tell me I got it wrong? Please?

Yes the system isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but the majority of 'poor' people in the UK still have a higher standard of living than they would elsewhere.

The point was that the people who come over and work hard for a living can't also be claiming benefits but its basically what the ignorant tend to say, a lot. It's always, immigrants stealing jobs, immigrants on benefits...blah, blah, blah.
F**king idiotic and it's like listening to a broken record. I would say it's thinly veiled racism but it's not even veiled anymore.

No, (same as neil-h) I'm saying that UK is not in anywhere near as bad a situation as many seem to say it is. People bang on about it but the UK is actually a pretty cushy place to live.
I love it here in the US but I am having to consider either flying back to the UK for healthcare or skipping on some treatments and focusing on other due to the possible costs here in the US. Oh and I could die because of that! (for example)

Why don't you try and answer it
Maybe go to one of the fact check sites - rather than a website that will give you the answer you want

I'm afraid it can't be depending on mere common sense, which can be very 'common' and prejudiced. It has to be a proper head count. A percentage may be the extreme Muslims, but I'm sure a percentage is the extreme Islamophobic. I'd still go for a head count of those as well; to be nearly exact.

This may come as a surprise but you're wrong. Being less well off doesn't have to mean financially lacking/poor. As it stands we have; a National Health Service which provides for all regardless of finances, a basically stable society, a welfare system which provides shelter for those in need and charities which aim to help those who fall through the cracks.

The NHS is bust, and splitting apart as we watch...partly due to a HUGE influx of migrants from the eastern Bloc. Partly due to Liebour meddling, partly due to Tory greed and lack of care. So no...it's not working and more money WOULD help, so shorter waiting times and drugs could be available for ALL, not on some postcode lottery.
A stable society? Where do YOU live? Because up here we have homeless on the streets, violence escalating, crimes escalating, many committed by, yes, those self-same migrants, a HUGE problem with youth unemployment, a bad problem with unemployment and more jobs being taken to Eastern Europe every month, and care in the community is a JOKE!!!
Your welfare system is being cut to the bone and those needing it, and the old, are being blamed for all the country's problems. So many are now falling through the cracks in it...are there no foodbanks where YOU are??? And is THAT acceptable???
And charities? You are joking? You mean those charities that pay about 5p in the £ to anyone needing it, and either use the rest for advertising, pay their chief execs huge sums or send it abroad???
Sorry, but to me, charity begins at home.
I don't give a fig if there's poor in other countries...I want my country to help it's own first.
And if that makes me a bad person, in your, or any others' eyes, you'll have to get over it.

a head count would be great , once the walls are built we can count them as they walk through the door thanking us for our hospitality

Forgive me for my memory, but your screen name reminds me of the Gaari episode from Only Fools and Horses. It was quite entertaining, so all good.

The problems in the countries where the migrants, (which we were told were refugees), have gone, have now started.
NOW the deniers claim they aren't happening, and anyone who says they are is just spreading hate.
These lefty tolerant do-gooders will see us all go down before they will admit they were wrong.

I go on a number of forums and this is full of jingoistic scare mongering about terrorism, refugees, asylum seekers etc etc.
It's like Fox News in forum format.
In fact, I think it should be re named www.foxnewsy.net
