i find it hard to believe by how many 2.5 cdb conversions are always ready for postage at ASperformance.
There must have been 20 there ready to go last time I was there.
I keep toying with the idea of a 2.5cdb with darton or aebs sleeves and gas ring heads to support a Borg efr 9180. Just need to persuade the missus

From all the forged 2.5s I see most stick under 500 ,, only couple iv seen over 500 is Bob Rawles owns car and Matt-c on here
Gas ring heads on a 2.5 ? ,, as far as I know the gas ring conversion is only for the 2.0 as iv got one being built for my WRC build but haven't heard of them for a 2.5
Friend had the darton sleeves and had nothing but problems and ended up starting again without them

Standard block I'd be inclined to agree circa 450ish is a nice limit, going beyond that you want it to be pinned/closed decked and going 14mm studs defo helps
Somewhat old this one, built it years ago using the finest Cosworth had to offer at the time inc a linered block Billet crank, rods, pistons, CNC heads and an old school non billet GT35 0.63.
Cheers mart , I got hold of an s206 with downpipe and massive inlet track at a good price so thought I would give it a whirl . Lol ! It's going on my classic rb5.

Will the wrx heads even be good enough to flow decent power for that turbo?

Some say 440 ish some have run 500 on stock heads and cams . I do have a set of v5/v6 sti heads but that'll be for when I need a refresh to get them chucked on
Mid 400,s I'm hoping for !!!

I'd spend the extra and get the v5/6 refreshed and put on tbh. Unless you have the wrx avcs to aid in spool?
a recent 2.5 build of mine, mapped by bob rawle, the dip in midrange was due to a bit wheelspin as roadsurface was wet
ej257 casings with 10mm thick plated inserts (CDB) using stock liners + 14mm headstuds
non avcs heads, ported, kelford 272/264 cams
owens standard position GT35/82
