*NEW* Surrey meet locations???
#1
I wondered if you guys fancied something different for next month?
A nice relaxing pub by the river, with tables outside (covered if it gets nasty), big parking area, smoking and non smoking areas inside. Smaller selection of food compared to The Fairmile, but better quality for the money IMHO!
It would mean having to meet earlier (about midday at the pub) to get tables as they are very busy in the summer. There are some speed bumps around, 30mph limits, and the area is normally policed with nosey neighbours willing to call them. So none of the 'creative' driving we sometimes see!!
I was thinking of Thames Court in Shepperton. I just wondered if you guys fancied it?
If you want to convoy from Newlands Corner, it will be about twice the distance compared to The Fairmile, but I will make sure there are detailed maps posted on the thread.
General location of Shepperton
Slightly more detail

Let me know what you think!

I know a similar pub near Hampton Court, but it really would have to be midday as it get very busy, but the car park is smaller!!! About the size of the area we normally park in at the Fairmile!
The Fox on The River in Thames Ditton.
Terzo, where are you based, if Shepperton is too far away?

Cheers Simon, I'm sure that would be an 'interesting' drive from Newlands corner!!!
I might have to check it out, but only if Caroline can bear to be taken to various pubs for dinner!!

Krade,
That is a good idea! Would a golf course be ok with 20-30 Subarus turning up and just using the food facilities??
Sorry, I really don't know anything about golf courses!
I'm one of these people who really doesn't understand the fascination with hitting a little white ball about!! Then again, I've been told it's about competing with yourself and trying to improve!! Where's the fun if you're not beating someone else???

Must admit, the Derby Arms has been less than helpful the last couple of subaru related visits, so a big NO AFAIK... IMO.
Theres a new pub on the A25 just outside Dorking on the way Reigate, its called Watermill, near a river if that counts, and the food is excellent - all freshly prepared.

NO, no, no we are not going to the Derby arms far to near my home and I don't want you lot pissing off my neighbours!
Besides it's always super busy and has to have bouncers because there are so many bad people around...

Thames court used to be the posers paradise of the 80's, i know coz i used to go there in my trusty capri 2.8i many moons ago, silvermere on the other hand is a superb place for a meet but be warned it gets real busy on a sunday as its a mega popular golf cousre as well as a tranquil lake setting,
anyway, count me either way guys!!

Thames Court was like that right up until about 2-3 years ago! (I know I cruised up and down there a few times in various cars!!)
But after the re-fit, it's family orientated, with good food and reasonable prices. Almost as if it's grown old about the same time I did!!!

To be honest I wasn't expecting so much friction for a one off meet!!! I didn't realise the change would effect so many people!
I guess I'll see you all at The Fairmile in July!!

Andy, you should know by know, after all the years you have been on Scoobynet that you will never be able to please anyone other than YOURSELF!
Change the venue, those that want to try somewhere else will come along, those who dont wont!
As you know I come along every so often. I dont care where it is, I just come along to say HELLO....

Andy tbh I dont see any grief on the thread except for Alex
IF we change the venue then people will either come or stay away, its down to them, Personally I don't mind where it is as long as it happens when my car is fixed

Shepperton is a bit too close to work to spend a Sunday there but depends how I feel neared the time of the meet. Its a long way whichever place you put down but let me know where is decided and we'll try and make it

Krade - I would welcome a change in venue, just not to that dodgy pub frequented by Neno, I mean if they let him in imagine what other sort of rifraff will be in there!
BTW the WaterMill is a good location, as its not far from the M25 junc at Leatherhead, and the food is good and its kid friendly I believe... I'll have to go and get drunk there again soon and check it out
Dyney that harvester in question, no longer has a bar, its purely a restaurant and I don't think the garden is in use anymore..
Dan - I think I know which one you mean, its nearer Godalming than Guildford right? Been in there, nice place, think I took one of my swedish friends there a fews years back.
