Question

This is a new one on me! The meet date is a bit of a bummer, it clashes with the Halfway House meet. I wonder if the organisers knew about the HH meet? If they did it would have made sense to re-shedule a different date as I am sure there are those who would possibly attend both? Sounds interesting though. Can you confirm the date of the next meet as 10 Jan.?

From memory it's the one with the pink helicopter in the garden

If it is not that one then it is the other one on the left hand side of the road if you are coming from Chelmsford to Rettendon just before the dual carriageway becomes single lane, this one has a car dealer next door to it.

Edited because of crop spooling !!!

Thanks for all your intrest.
Our main meet of the Month is on the 2nd Thursday of the month, but we also hold meetings on every 3rd Thursday also, and at weekends. We arrange the meets through our members so all can attend, Thursday meets is more like an AGM. You are all welcome to join also.
We also work very close with a company called Sidelines, run by the original founder of SIDC.
I can confirm that the next meet dates are on Thursday 10th and Thursday 17th at the Plough and Sail. Directions are as Follows:
From the A127, take the A130 towards Chelmsford, Go past the Petrol Station on the left (one that sells Motorbikes) proceed up the hill, Public house is around 1 mile on Right.
From the A12, take the A130 towards Wickford, It is the first Pub on your Left.
Regards

Cool

Markus,

Wrong pub I'm afraid, that one is in Paglesham. The one these guys are talking about is on the A130 road between Rettendon and Chelmsford.

I have been to this meet ....... About 7 months ago .... The Plough and Sail pub is next to a big Van sales place.

One of my threads about 7 months ago asking to confirm HH meet (which was suggested to me by JohnD) , sparked arguments between both meets .

Markus,
address for pub is Plough & Sail , Southend Road , Rettenden Common. Hope this helps.

Nate.

Edited for address

Question

I think this is the one.

I was planning on doing the Halfway House on the 10th but might make this one on the 17th (especially since it's less than 8 miles from me).

Just to let you know the pub with the PINK helicopter on the A130 is the Wheatshift, good pub & nice food if you are passing. Sorry to say that the PINK Morris Minor Traveller has log since departed to the great scrap yard in the sky!!

Hope this helps,

Ed.

Question

So is this supposed to be some sort of rival to/breakaway from the SIDC or something?

James
I remember the past "conflict" well, talk of commercial interests and all that? I wonder how many others would have put "two and two" together if you had not made mention? Is it worth putting doubts in peoples minds by raising this issue again?
Has the date of your edit any significance?? (1st April!)

Excellent - does this mean all the SIDC whingers will now defect and we can have some peace and quiet

PS - Flat Four isn't very original - the VW club has been using this for about 40 years.....

LOL

Re HH meet, no chance - the sad life of a commuter - up at 05:45, get home at 19:15 (assuming the poxy trains are running on time, and they never are ), and HH is 40 miles away - remember we live in the real Essex LOL.

So, bottom line is, we don't go out in the week

For what little it's worth I agree with James H. I think more meets can be nothing but a good thing (even though we might not always be able to make them all) but surely, for whatever the motive, lets not have them on the same dates. Different dates means everyone gains! Me, I don't do the political thing, but assuming First Great Eastern are on time I might actually get to the Halfway House this time! As for someone's comment as to who's meet it is (ie SIDC ect), surely this doesnt matter that much does it? After all, it doesn't have to be organised by a SIDC committee member to be a SIDC event.

As a SIDC member, I think the issue is more that of why would I want to support what appears to be trying to be a rival???

Why are we here? - cos we luv our cars! I used to be very involved in R/C model flying and at one time belonged to three clubs as well as the governing body of the sport and made good friends and benefited from each. As has been said, the H/way House meet is not an official SIDC meet,(or is it??) unlike the RS owners (Essex) club meet, now at the Dick Turpin. (although there are probably quite a lot of non-members who turn up as well) It`s not as if anyone is losing any business or profit is it?
