Default Man u 'V' Pompey Saturday and pompey support in general

We may not win, we may not draw...........infact im pretty sure we wont. But I will almost guarantee the couple of thousand we take will out sing anything the mighty 60 thousand reds can muster.

I may be biased but I reckon we have the best vocal support in the premiership. Home and away, win or loose (normally loose), non of this sing when your winning crap, we sing when we're 5-0 down..........

lol. Bit like Oldham, we dont really have much to cheer about but 5-0 down ona cold tuesday night in the rain you can gaurentee someone will start the conga

Although its always gonna be hard to outsing the utd fans on their home turf, bunch on noisey beggers.... Took my Brother to a couple of utd games (luckily Ive converted him now to a real football team) watched the Utd v City game and as you can imagine its a game city try to be vocal in but they we're soon drowned out.

They are vocal every now and then, but not incessant. Its the constant noise I love about my lot.

Same as you guys 5-1 down at home to leeds in the FA cup, 3 mins to go and the chant of ''where gonna win 6-5 is being sung by the whole ground, not just our cop end.......

Thats what football is about to me ..... The atmosphere, the aggression which starts when the whistles blows and stops when the game ends. The quips that come out every now and then and end up in chants. Moaning on the way home and trying to name your ultimate 11 using old boys and buying players for pennies ..... We struggle to get past Seaman in goal every week Throwing a few beers down before the game and a couple of whiskeys for good measure. Going into enemy territory, drinking in their pubs and having a laugh with them ..........Going home and thinking it will be better next week ...........

Cant beat it ........

I will be at OT on saturday and you probably will outsing us. To be honest with you we don't really make any noise for games like these anymore. It needs to be a big one for OT to get going properly.

The few thousand reds on an away make more noise than anyone though.

We had a little party with 40,000 Evertonions a few weeks back. Very strange, not one song through the whole game, even our ''shall we sing a song for you'' couldnt tempt them out of their shells. Never been to such a game where the home side didnt get one chant going...........Down the bottom maybe, but odd not to try and lift your team.

voted best fans in the league for about four years running now,
my best memory, losing 5-1 to the **** and having the crack with Henry who reciprocated with aplomb.

You weren't very vocal on the opening day of the season when we beat you 0-2

Which I have to say is very unusual for Pompey, every other time I have been there the atmosphere has been good !!

A lot better than the silence at places like Old Trafford and Highbury !!

Think some credit has to go to Spurs too for the 2500+ that stayed and cheered the boys on during that f**kin rain on the opening day,
was pi$$ wet through, and paid 30 quid for the pleasure

I think its time to admit Pompey are in serious trouble.........I cant see us winning a game away from home and hanging on for a draw is our only hope. Mind you we have had a hard few weeks of it.

Lets hope things change.

In the meantime we had a good time at Old Trafford. Stood outside with half a dozen cans watching the sea of reds arrive. Three lots of Mancs stopped for a chat and wished us well for the game and the rest of the season.

We sang our hearts out and enjoyed the day..........

There's always next week

Its all about quality not quantity sunner ........

65,000 reds and the only time they get excited is when they score. Mind you that was three times

I think its sad. All seater standiums have spoilt the atmosphere for ever.

A good few years ago I STOOD many times in the Stretford end, having queued for hours to get in. The noise used to be deafening with ''Fergusons red and white army'' sometimes ringing out for 90 mins solid. That was what atmosphere was about...... I can honestly say I didnt see the stretford end hands clapping and singing this weekend. Other than when goals were scored of course.

I also got asked to sit down a couple of times in the away end on Saturday ''alright son you've had a sing now sit down and let us see the game please''

Not sure what its all about, I cant fathom it........We are loosing 3-0 the only dignity we can get from it is by standing and singing our hearts out for the last 20 minutes, not from sitting and moaning ...... grumble grumble

I totally agree with you on the point about standing, I for one hate having to sit at football matches, In fact I have no idea where my season ticket seat is
In our corner on the Shelf side they let us stand, I just stand behind the seats at the back where there is room for about 6 of us to stand,
Think it gives for a much better atmosphere

Also have to agree with you about Old Trafford, the only time we heard them a few weeks back was when they scored
To busy eating their prawn sarnies I guess
There was almost a constant 90 minutes of noise from us though
And wasn't once told to sit down

If you are serious about the sitting at football issue, have a look at this site and register your support www.standupsitdown.co.uk
They do raise some very good points on there !!

I love some of the newer chants .........

''your just a small town in Stockport''

''Stockport make more noise than you''

''Sit down, with your sandwich's''

''Housa Marinio, housa Marinio'' (spelling)

all the fun of the fair .........
