Brazil: Not THAT Good?
So, what do we think?
Personally, I'd say that attacking, very threatening, but defensively they looked a little shaky, and the midfield didn't grab the game by the scruff of the neck and take control.
If we do meet them in the semi-final (looking ahead a fair bit, I know ), I think we'd have joy from set pieces, especially considering Beckham's recent form, hopefully that'll be a recurring factor in the tournament.
I'd say it's very encouraging from an England perspective.

They didnt exactly look stunning. Ronaldinio is obviously good, but did lose the ball a fair few times and make some poor passes.
Croatia could quite easily have won that game really.

TBH it looked like a training match for them! Brazil NEVER look very good until the latter stages of any competition and then they turn on the flair!!!! IMHO obviously

Considering they were playing with 10 men for a good portion of the match they did very well. Ronaldinio stood out for me, and as mentioned their coach the other day said they will be much better in the second round.

Just an observation, that's all.
One poor half from England and you state that we don't have a hope of doing well (plus the now infamous Trinidad & Tobago comment ), while a poor ninety minutes from Brazil is met with a "they'll come good in the second round" comment.

At least Brazil scored their own goal yesterday In any case my problem lies with Sven not the team.

Not an inspired performance but Carlos, Kaka and Ronaldinho were superb. Keeper had a good game too. As for Ronaldo - don't know why he bothered turning up
Still got my Brazil '70 shirt on today though

Brazil would have scored again had they needed to - of that there is no question.
They play football for fun, score for fun and let goals in for fun ......
Remember they were playing with 10 men!!!

They seemed a bit complacent defensively - when Croatia were attacking them 4 of the players were stood on the halfway line chatting waiting for the ball to come back up...
Thought Croatia were unlucky and were the better team - the Brazillians deserved a spanking...

The thing about Brazil is that they may be bad defensively but will always step up the pace if they need to and score more than they let in. If you score 2 against them they will score 3. They never go all out 100% of the time, they are too laid back for that and just do enough to win. For me this time round (excluding England as we are tactically useless and wont make the final) i'd like to see a Czech vs Brazil final as they are the two most creative teams with the most flair.
Germany and Spain possibly to be the the other two semi finalists depending on the draw (as I haven't checked it through). England to only make the quarter finals (although I hope i am very wrong on this!)
I'd love to see the Czech's spank Germany along the way as I really can't stand the Krauts especially as they have already qualified for the klnock out stages

Maybe they thought that Croatia were not enough of a threat to them to justify playing at 100%, Most of the time Brazil were jogging as if they were playing in a park even when attacking, while Ronaldo must have thought he was in a park having a picnic, or thinking about what he's having for tea or where to go out that night?
EDIT: Croatia probably deserve some credit as they seemed like a tough solid unit when it came to defending down the centre mainly.
When they weren't rolling around in agony for nothing.
Did anyone watch the France Game?
I think Mick Mcarthy(sp?) should commentate more often, ........not afraid to say it like it is.

wtf has happened to ronaldo? i mean i always thought he was over hyped, but why on earth is he being allowed to play when he is so obviously unfit and over weight?
Its almost scandalous. the other brazil strikers sitting on the bench must be fuming. imagine working your socks of staying fit and healthy only to find the gaffer wants to play gary bloody barlow up front instead!!
