ITV peed me off last night when Owen got injured, We'll have to bring on Crouch, we dont have any other strikers in our squad, England are in danger etc etc, he must of repeated this about 5 times, then the picture shoots to Theo, commentator says "Theres Englands other striker" friggin numptys.

I think it may be much longer.

The movement of the knee suggests that he may have ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

I'm hoping it's just a severe twist, but it did look much more serious.

Owen's crap anyway, it's Sven and his squad selection that have messed up our hopes .....

Rooney and Crouch(inio) upfront it is then, if only Tiger could utilize his height to good effect

Newcastle are going to look seriously lightweight up front next season unless they sign a decent striker

Newcastle weren't about to anything anyway ....... the loss of a striker in a team that cannot supply service to the striker is no loss at all.

Oh dear, what a shame

Jimmy Floyd just may be available

That's no surprise, at least give him a chance to find form. The way we've played hasn't helped either.

Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson said: "I'm sorry for him. But we have many players who can take that second striker role."

I said 4-5 months, so I was close enough unfortunately. It seems we get compensation from the FA, so no need to sue. However, it won't be enough to cover his wages I bet.

There's compensation from FIFA, I believe:

FIFA have set aside five per cent of the World Cup prize money - around £6m - to cover the wages of players who are injured and out of action for more than 20 days.

But the cover runs to a maximum of 180 days and pays wages up to £38,000 a week.
I'm guessing the FA will cover the rest.

Have to agree mate TBH, I'm disappointed Sven didn't bring Walcott on last night actually, seeing as he has had no playing time for us so far. I would have thought last night would have been a good time to give him a try, being that if he can't cope with the pressure at least it wouldn't have had a world cup-ending effect! And lets face it, with owen out the likliness of him being called upon has been greatly increased - surely he needs all the match experience he can get?

B0ll0ck talker posts again!

In the brief time he was fit, he was supplied with enough chances to score 5 goals in 8 games... Not many Smog strikers make double figures, let alone can score 24+ goals a Season.

Owen's goals? You mean the guy who was the EPL's top goalscorer two years running? You can't compare him to Crouch (or Rooney for that matter!).

Crouch = a goal every 3.25 games

Rooney = a goal every 3.16 games

And...

Michael Owen = a goal every 1.93 games...

He's almost as good as...

Alan Shearer who scored a goal every 1.84 games

i feel sorry for the Newcastle fans tbh, because all owen has ever talked about in the press and on the tv, is being fit for the world cup and never mentioned Newcastle.

Owen should have been left at home and Defoe should have gone instead. After such a long lay off it was to quick to soon for the lad.

No sooner posted than done! In his last 10 games for Newcastle Utd, he scored 5 goals, even though he only played 29 minutes of one. So, that's a goal every...

2 games!

He actually only played 11 games for us last Season, but still managed 7 goals. That's a Shearer beating ratio!

As for England matches: one goal in his last 3, or rather 1 goal in 204 minutes, which = 1 goal every 2.26 games. I didn't bother to count the Sweden game - I'm sure even you will let Michael away with that one!

How many in his last 10 England games? Er...

7

Take it easy on him - he is needed for the later rounds so form right now doesn't really matter. England have got where they need to be - the second round, so hopefully we'll see him starting to shine again.

Returning from a broken bone isn't that easy - I've recently returned from fracturing my left leg nigh on fully as a result of tiny stress fractures. It's amazing that even 4 weeks off can diminish your fitness level so much.
I know I possibly should have had longer to rest, but I desperately want to finish the season (just like Rooney wants to play the WC) and fitness with me at the moment is a real problem despite training 5 day days out of 7 at the moment.....
