Default is english football different from foreign football?

I'm not a football fan in any way, infact, I'd be quite happy if they fluffed it against uragui tonight, as the random horn tootings , chav flags, and drunken celebrating fools would all wind up to a close

I did though while channel hopping last night, catch the highlights of the argie Vs the mexicans match, and it seems a totally different game, even I could watch it. They actually seem to play, as opposed to (from what I have seen of england) just poncing the ball about the field and spitting ( inbetween doing their hair and looking nonplussed/dishevelled/arguing with ref/trying to bum each other) depending on current circs.

The foreigners seem somewhat theatrical when it comes to fouls, I noticed that a player will lie down in the throes of near death, but the game plays on?

I dunno but it does seem a bit pedestrian in comparison which is probably why the Sweaties won't support England, given the levels of apathy. I think it was Clarkson who said the best way to see England score some goal would be to put them all on a salary of £1.00 with £1 million for each goal - that would liven things up a bit, I expect.

Is it against the rules to push other players with your hands when going for the ball and to grip their shirts etc.? I am not an expert either but enjoy watching the WC matches. Even Mrs Leslie is hooked

Hmmm, something tells me they wont "wind up to a close" after getting knocked out... I think if the England team fail to knock-out their opponents, the England fans will certainly succeed in 'knocking-out' the other fans...

Totally agree with the Mexico game. Footbal played at it's finest [you could almost compare it to sex - don't quote me but I think someone may have quoted that ]....generally the other team tactics seem to be based on a bit of foreplay [stroking the ball to one another and passing gracefully], total penetration into the box generally followed by the orgasm [goal], if they don't suceed then they try another tactic, with almost certain sucess.

Us, foreplay consists of hoofing the ball into the box and then frantically scrabbling to slot it home, rarely leading to an orgasm [goal] and total frustration to all but the England players. If that fails we try, try again [same tactic].

However, we got a result and that's what counts. Plus Portugal are havig to field a pub team, a result of a loverly ref [hope he doesn't come anywhere near an England game, or any other game for that matter]

It certainly is, but FIFA must have put a memo out with different Laws of The Game to the ones that most of us referee to.

Thanks Little Miss WRX, I thought it must be against the rules but cannot understand why it is not penalised.

I must say it must be a very painful game to play, they only seem to need a minor touch in a tackle and they all fall over squirming with pain! What would they do in a game of rugby?
