Especially as he was sent off for pushing teary-girl. The ref was gonna let the bollox stamping go .
Sven shouldn't have played him - it's not like he was really missed when he went off. We didn't look like scoring when he was on the pitch - and if anything we probably looked more like scoring once he was off.
What's the betting Ronaldo gets a broken leg in the first day of pre-season traing ?

He doesn't seem to play well in a 4-5-1. We'd have been better off starting with Theo Walcott up front in that formation.
Sven cocked up his formation and played the wrong team. If you're gonna play a striker with a known short fuse you don't play him up front on his own then invite the opposition to attack you by playing a defensive mid field.

No one played well in the 4-5-1 or the 4-4-2 come to that !. what has anyone done, lets be fair we were a boring shambles from start to finish, and it's hardly Rooneys favoured position is it.

Unortunately his formation would only suit the Swedish team from the 1970s .
The worst thing you can possibly do with a player like Rooney is play him where everybody on the planet knows he's gonna get frustrated !
I'm not blaming any of the players - it's that Swedish ***'s fault were coming home !

In the last few minutes of extra time I was hoping that a 'sacrificial lamb' be brought on (Jenas?) who's sole task was to get a straight red for ending Ronaldo's world cup

Before the World Cup started, I told my youngest that Rooney didn't ought to go, especially with only 3 other strikers, one untried, as he was a liability.
Unfortunately, Sven played a formation that let anyone else wind him up, and off he went. Blunkett could have seen it coming
TBH, he's done nowt this year.....didn't finish top scorer for Man Utd, hasn't EVER scored in the World Cup INCLUDING qualifying..........what did we expect?
It'll be interesting to see if he's vilified by the press and opposing fans in the same way Beckham was for HIS sending off against Argentina.
