Broken rib?
I hope not, but it's painful as hell atm!
Bit late posting this as I thought it was only a bruise, but it's not getting any better, so here I am.
Went off-road the sunday before last, nice 2.5 hour cycle up hill and down dale. Knackered by the time I was heading for home. Just taking it nice and slow along one of my all time favourite singletracks about 2 miles from home, when, BANG! stopped dead in my tracks, chest straight into my headset, over the bars, and on my **** in the braken!
Winded to buggery, could hardly breath for a moment. Once I'd regained my composure, and I could breath again, I sit up and take stock. Chest was sore as hell, and my left knee too. (don't even remember hitting that!)
When I finally stand up, I look around and see what stopped me so suddenly. There used to be a big log along the trial, and it had been removed, or so I thought! Whoever did it missed a bit, and it was that bit that was stuck out into the trail, hiding behind some bracken, that I hit.
OUCH!
So, I limped home, and checked out the bruising when I got in. My wife, who's a nurse, with all the bedside manner of hannibal lectur decides that I'm ok and should stop moaning
After further examination later on in the week, she decides my rib is actually broken! I figure that I'll see it it will get better on its own, but so far, it isn't, and feels like it's getting worse. So I'm off to A&E today, to finally get it x-rayed, as it feels like something is grinding at my lung atm!

I suppose this should be in the sports section?
Dont get the missus to make a diagnosis on any more injuries you might get
Hope you heal quickly
Is the bike injured also?

Of course it should be in the sports section, there's more to sports than bloody football
Good advice about the missus, she's good at helping to cut em up, not so good at the diagnosis
Bike is fine, strong and touch Cannondale

That's what a few people have told me ste, but I'm going to see if I can get an x-ray at least to see the damage
No way can I throw the bike away, with running, they are the only things keeping me slim!

well, spent a surprisingly quick 2 hours in a&e this afternoon.
examined by a doctor, who's recommendation is to take painkillers, take it easy, and let it heal au natural. He doesn't reckon it's broken though, and no xray either.
pain killers and a good nights sleep are the order of the day
