a fair point, although this side is better than the one 4 years ago.

and also, cesc, denilson, clichy, bentner, diaby have come through from those teams so some get through. There's a huge difference between this and becoming world beaters.
but as a gooner Iget a lot of pleasure seeing these kids come through...kind of the same pleasure a chelski fan would get paying £30mn for another 28yr old midfielder...horses for courses etc..

Your right Paul we was getting excited. they have come through though as Ted has said, cesc, clichy, denilson are first team players now so system works. Hopefully we can keep hold of first team players then bring these players in to the team in the future, then we will have a nice mixture of youth and experiance.

wilshere, vela and ramsay will be stars. hopefully at Arsenal. No one who watched last nights game can say they didnt see something special.

As for playing wigan at home. yes it was. but they had a full squad out(bar Heskey), premiership side and our team was kids. only ramsay, vela and song have seen first team places this season with about 5 games between them.

what makes it exciting from a gooners view is that there are English players in the team.

could they beat a full squad manchester, liverpool or chelsea team. unlikely but they would give it a good go as they did a few years back

future of the youth is looking rosey

I think most people love and admire the young teams Wenger puts together and there are certainly players to get excited about but for all that come the end of the season it tends to be other teams enjoying the success of winning something.

Unfortunately true but at least most people can now see new homegrown talent coming through as a group rather than the drips and drabs that were coming through.

As long as your happy watching kids year in year out being played in the Carling Cup, and not winning anything with them in the future, whereas, Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool will splash the cash and win something.

I'm not an Arsenal fan but Ramsay plays like he should be in the 1st team already - Wenger always has his eye on the best talent that will suit his team and always seems to make the right choices.

The main point I'm making is we can name a full starting line up of 11 English players that would still compete in the top half of the Premiership.

1.Stuart Taylor -U21 caps.
2.Luke Young -Full Caps.
3.Nicky Shorey -Full Caps.
4.Curtis Davis - U21 caps and Full squad member.
5 Zat Khight. - U21 Caps.
6 Nigel Reo-Coker - U21 captain and Full squad member.
7 Gareth Barry - Full Caps.
8 Steve Sidwell - U21 caps.
9 James Milner - U21 Caps and Full squad member.
10 Gabby Agbonlahor - U21 Caps and Full squad member.
11 Ashley Young - U21 caps and Full squad Member.

I'm pretty sure there Isn't another premiership club that could name such a side.

As a man utd fan i will admit arsenal's youngster's are impressive, but me and i mate were talking (him being a arsenal fan) and we both agreed arsenal will be screwed when wenger walks away. Who is gonna manage them then? tony adams? lol

But saying that i think united are in the same boat with fergie when he walks away will we be screwed, i think ronaldo will leave (if he hasnt already) giggs, scholes etc will retire. Then it will be all about chelsea, liverpool and dare i say it man city.

Didn't the bbc announce that he'd signed for United just before he went to Arsenal?

It wasn't just Wenger with an eye on him, most Premier League teams did.

Least before the Americans took over, we were spending the cash that the club was generating via sales and marketing. Better than spending some rich dudes next Yacht budget, eh? (Especially on stars like Crespo and Shevchenko)

Love people who sit there waiting to jump on threads for a dig. yes thats right the kids lost. average age of 19.
everyone of them(except bendtner) can walk off with their heads high. at times they carved open their defence and only a sensational performance from the keeper kept them in it.

midfield was sloppy but its all good experience.

the way you say it is like they should be ashamed for losing to 4th place championship side.

lets see how liverpools kids get on this round?? oh hang on

Hopefully the yidos get beat tonight. its nice to see the smaller clubs getting to semi's + finals.
would of liked them to get to the final again as its great experiece but they didnt show winning grit when they went 1-0 down. it had really been to easy for them up till then

lesson learnt

Against a full strength Chelsea team, as they fielded in every round.
An interesting post really Ars*nal have just gone out of the the only competition they had a chance of winning, meaning the chance to win silverware for the first time in 5 seasons has gone, but the fans seem happy.
