Hi

Any recommendations for what to use when washing? I currently use a cellulose sponge (probably should get two, one for top half, one for bottom).

Is this OK?

How about for the wheels?

Also, how are those nylon blades for getting shot of the water before shammying?

those nylon blades are superb for getting rid of the water

just be careful the blade is clean each time you use it, one small bit of dirt = one huge long scratch

they are very good tho, I use one, then finish off with a terry towel (nappy)

Thumbs up

Terry towels for washing, drying and buffing.

Got myself a Turtle-Wax blade. Not bad at all.

terry towels? Literally nappies from the local mothercare?

I can understand washing and buffing, but are they as good as a shammy for drying?

How many do you need?

1 for washing top
1 for washing bottom
1 for wheels (or something else - brush?)

1 for drying (or lots)

1 for buffing.

What about polish application and removal - nother 2 there?

"Towels" ... it's a confusing business.

Terry towels (as far as I know) are made of the same type of material as the old nappies. A good soft cotton bathroom towel would be fine.

Here's my "sad" little collection ...

Swissol wash cloth in white (small terry towel)
Swissol drying towel in black (medium sized)
Swissol paint cleaner removal towel in white (medium sized)
Swissol wax buffing towel in white (medium sized)
Swissol wash cloth in white for the wheels (small terry towel)

All the towels are machine washed after every clean. Sounds daft but it works for me.

I've then got various other towels and god knows how many Halfords polishing cloth's for doing the black bits, windows, lights and exhaust.

Then there's the Swissol wax applicator, paint cleaner applicator, water blade, Autoglym, MER, Autosol .... my list is endless

J.

PS. Forgot to add my 'Micro Fibre' cloth. Well good for shining clean waxed paintwork!

ok, so picked up some nappies from mothercare.

Very nice for washing with. Hold water nicely, and seems much better than a sponge.

But using for drying left fluffy bits. I had washed them first, but does it take a while to get all the fluff out? Ended up drying with my normal shammy.

Especially annoying when using white nappies on a black car.

the nylon blade was good - noisy though.

fdpxfunix, I don't suppose you get to drive your car too often, the time it must take to clean it
