Don't Subaru do the WR1 type on the website under accessories? Sure I've seen them listed.

Do you get the mesh for replacing the upper grill with this kit?

Yeah, you get both parts. Bit of a bugger to fit the upper bit into the existing grille surround, and the lower bit requires some scarey drilling into the bumper.

Or there's this one. A bit cheaper (I got mine for £80 ) but not quite as nice

Elmer, haven't taken any pics recently, but going for a run in the Dales soon so I might feel the urge if I call by some beauty spots. If I get chance sooner I'll try.

It tucks neatly back leaving approx 30mm of the colour coding visible. Clips in at the top, then drill 3 small holes from below to secure with self tappers. About 10 mins to fit.

Hmmm, thanks for that...think i'm gonna have to get meself one 'o them then

Not sure about drilling holes tho

do you think that a couple of calibrated metric zip-ties,cunningly concealed and strategically placed and would do the job?

Drilling the bumper is not a problem.

If you place a piece of masking tape over where the mark for the hole will be, when you drill through it it stops massive slippage from the drill bit.

You'll be drilling from underneath anyway, so it will only be visible if you roll it A bit tricky getting a drill under. I used my mates fancy "drill around corners" thingy.
