Talking WRX03: Spoiler or wing?

I'm going through a little crisis at the moment. You see, I think I am in love... with this:

She's a beauty! It's a proper prodrive 100% carbon fibre rear wing ...but what would it look like on a red WRX03? I kinda like the red / black contrast, I have kept the front mudflaps, rear splash guards and sides black, and have just ordered a Scott Lowe STi front splitter (black/unpainted) to fit onto STi side splitters. This wing looks different from the others, in that it is quite low, but what do you think? The alternative would be a (red!) Rallytech rear spoiler from DR Motorsport.

I haven't been able to find any pics of this spoiler on a car yet, I think it has only recently started shipping, will find out later.

Damn, I knew someone would ask!

Reality bites: $1199, or $1273 inc shipping, which is about £695 then I'll get beaten by the tax man too for import duties.

Bloody annoying considering its probably made in this country in the first place....your just paying to re-import it!!!

what an irritating characteristic!!!!

Its unlikely that there are many photos out there. So best to mock it up.

Can you take some photos of your car at similar angles as the first two pictures? Ideally also try and get the lighting at least similar (difficult as those were probably in a studio, but give it a shot)

Then we can have a play with it.

I think it looks gorgeous - not quite a standard JGTC style rear wing (which is a bit OTT for our roads IMO)

I'm waiting on the US supplier to get back to me, he was going to ask Prodrive if they had any pics of it fitted to a car.

I think this wing, and a set of anthracite wheels and TRU front lip would really set the car off.

shouldn't be TOO difficult to roughly photoshop this onto a red car if you can get pics at a similar angle. Might be quicker than waiting for prodrive?

Maybe at lunchtime then

The downside to this wing is that there is no place for the high-level brake light to go, so I'll have to mount it on the parcel shelf, I heard of someone else doing this recently but can't find the post.

that will look great with the TRU front splitter, mine looks fab, im so happy with it, with the other prodrive spoiler......makes the car wickid to look at, and so much more aggressive......just need the prodrive springs now

My standard spoiler

I might not be a very good judge of angles
Do what you can!

Thanks for the opinions all.

I think I'll send you a protractor through the post

Its a shockingly bad photoshop jobby, but should at least give you an idea of colour/contrast?

Thanks mrklaw! I had attempted something similar (but nowhere near as good), but the perspective of the prodrive photo meant the nearer side of the wing looked out of proportion. I definitely like the contrast!

Going to buy it tonight

It kind of works, especially with the side skirts and window frames

I think it'll look really good with anthracite wheels and the TRU lip too.

Get me a nice full shot at the sameish angle and I'll give you the works

Any particular make of wheel in mind?

OK, just need a nice full shot of your car now. If you fancy emailing me a hires image (as the spoiler is fairly hires), It might shrink down a bit better. PM me if you like for my email address.

After spending so much money on my car, its always fun to spend someone elses
