fronts need to let in at least 70% light, which no tint available will do as the standard glass will already have a small % tint

rear windows can be as dark as you like.

i have been done many a time with my car,

if your fronts let in less than 30% light (medium smoke or darker) 3 points and £60

anything between 30-70% is a £60 fine.

front are already tinted up to a certain level and any more tints will render it illegal.....

the lightest tint is 30% ... putting it on a window already tinted will make it around 43% if am not wrong. depends on car...

police once found my tints 43% in front, means it was 13% tinted already from manufacture, and i put another 30% on...

i got told to remove it within 14 days and have it checked at the local police station...

no fine or points whatsoever...

what i did was to take the pasenger side tints off, put the driver side window down and take the fuses off the fusebox..
went to the station and told him that i took the tints off but my window is not coming up now. he went 'ah maybe u didnt take the glue off properly , but thats not a problem as long as you took it off'/// signed my paper and let me go...
- headed straight to the tinting people and got the passenger side done again

the paper i got only stated passenger side so he couldnt care less

You must have 75% light coming into the front windscreen and 70% light coming into the front drivers side and front passenger side. Any other window is exempt.
It's a straight £30 fixed penalty if the officer has got a tintman to check it. You shouldn't get a VDRS for it as it is not an MOT requirement.
