FMIC vs scoop?
for people that have gone for FMIC, have you kept the bonnet scoop?
have you noticed any difference in temps?
i cant work out if keeping scoop will increase airflow therefore reduce temps, or if you're better off going for a reverse scoop to vent hot air from?

I`ve swapped the Sti scoop for a slightly smaller WRX scoop, keeping the look but slightly less in your face. Also i`m using a top mount oil cooler so got no choice but to keep the scoop, but the undertray has been modified to suit the smaller cooler.

i have noticed my bonnet flexes about a lot more at speed since fitting my fmic. Its quite unnerving and the scoop must be acting like a parachute.
Having said that i can't face the idea of owning a scooby without a scoop.

Nah mate we know better
My experience, no more bonnet lift not even at three figure speeds (private track). The vanes create a low pressure area immediately above which draws out heat. You get an improved view of the road ahead (believe me it makes a big difference). Ultimately it's personal preference.

I have got the ABW reverse vent and seen no difference in the temps (monitor water on Scangauge II not just the temp gauge).
I put the scoop back on a couple of months ago to re-spray the vent and I hated the view, felt like I was trying to look round the scoop everytime I drove anywhere.
I have tried to keep my car understated so would like to run with a sport bonnet but was worried about the temps so went for the vent.

I removed the STi scoop from my Blobeye when my FMIC was fitted and went for a Kakumei carbon fibre reverse vent but I couldn't get on with it.
So next an RCM carbon fibre vent was fitted, brilliant piece of kit BUT there was a problem with a reaction of the coating when it got hot and the finish went 'milky' so that was removed and returned for a refund.
Next I tried a second hand reverse vent that I bought off here, it was made by E_M_B and virtually all the slats have collapsed and it's being removed this weekend and an STi scoop is being refitted.
The reverse vents do work very well, you only have to stop the car after giving it the beans to see the heat haze on top of the vent, so the effect at speed must be greater given the air pressure differential.
If I could find a reverse vent that I liked (apart from the RCM which was brilliant but I wasn't going to paint a £300 carbon fibre vent) then I would still have one fitted, but I do like the STi scoop and I just paid for a new one and to get it painted so it will be staying on there for a while yet.
