xmas bargain 06 hawk sti
going to try this as a whole car first,i know i could make a hell of a lot more if i broke it for parts but,to save my time.i will give it a couple of weeks first as it is.then if there is no interest the car will be broke.
its an 06 plate hawkeye sti with only 41000 miles on the clock, have the mot's to prove milage.it was recorded as a cat d back in 2007 for light panel damage.the car is totally standered and the engine and gearbox are as sweet as they come.the gearbox is the dccd long ratio one and the engine is the 2.5l.it has mot till april 2012 and tax till march 2012(i think, will check on that).there are the odd little mark here and there as with any car of this age but overall is in good condition, with mint interior.it is also fitted with a toad alarm system.all 4 tyres are good.so basically all you will need is insurance and you can go straight on the road.price will be £6750.

I've just spoken to my insurance broker about this, just testing their amenability, and the guy made an interesting point; this car would have been ~27k in 2006. If it was written off in 2007 when it was still worth a big chunk of money (18-20k?), how much damage was done? "Light panel damage" just doesn't seem to cover >50% of that money...
Do you have any details about the damage that caused it to be written off? This is a genuine enquiry, not stirring the pot. I can't get a quote until Weds as my insurers are closed now. The broker said they consider cat d's on a case by case basis.
