1997 Subaru Impreza Type R (Rebuilt)
Up forsale is my lovely 1997 Impreza Type R. If you're looking for a Type R that won't need any money spending on it for a good while to come.....this is the one!
First up - Rebuild Info
Receipt dated 16/05/13
This was done in a joint venture by WMS motorsport (engine build) and Group B motorsport (fitting and mapping), have a search on scoobynet to see how good their reputations are!! Copy from the Receipt -
EJ20 Semi Forged engine build
STI forged pistons
New age STI conrods
ACL Race bearings
STI Crank
11mm High pressure oil Pump
all new seals and gaskets
cometic 1.2mm head gaskets
New cambelt kit, tensioner and waterpump
Brand new Exedy Pink Box clutch fitted
Fit ESL ECU Upgrade
Run in and remap
Engine Oil and filter
Millers Gearbox and Rear diff oil
The engine was run in properly by Group B on the Dyno using mineral oil (apprently using the same run in procedure that Prodrive use), it then completed the first 1000 miles on semi-synth and then changed to fully synth 5w40. So the run in has been perfect with 3 oil changes in the first 1000 miles, the engine runs amazingly . The main reason bottom ends fail on Type Rs is due to them not being mapped for UK fuel - So I had Group B purchase and install an ESL re-mappable ECU and Dyno tune it. It's running at a more than safe 305bhp, but more importantly 320lbs of torque. In the Type R shell with it's short ratio gearbox this for me was as much as it would ever need, allowing for optimal reliability
Modfications wise -
New age STI 4 piston brembo brake upgrade with Brand new (last week) EBC Blue stuff pads (£200) - these brakes really are amazing.
New age STI 17" wheels, (17s required to clear the brembos)
3" Turbo back downpipe and exhaust system, nice tone and not too loud, but roars when you open it up
Rare OEM optional extra Lamco boost gauge fitted on Steering wheel column
Toyo T1S tyres with loads of tread
Toad Cat 1 alarm and immob
Walbro Fuel Pump
12th months MOT, sailed through with just 1 advisory for rear drop links (easy cheap fix)
6 months tax added last week
Condition wise overall very good. There are a couple of light scratches on the body work - it's not perfect, it's a used car, but generally very very good. If I was being Picky the wheels could do with a refurb to be perfect. Only real downside as such is The bonnet scoop has some Laquer peeling, but I can get this sorted no problem.
Usual Type R spec for those that don't know -
Adjustable DCCD Diff (controls distribution of power between front and rear wheels, with 65% of power being sent to the back in the standard setting)
Type R ultra short ratio gearbox
Intercooler Water Spray
Everything works, mechanically no faults
Car is on 87k on the moment which is a mix of miles and kilometers, now converted to miles and has 1500 miles since the rebuild. I took it for a trackday at cadwell last week and it was faultless and hasn't used a single drop of Oil. I've attached some pics from Cadwell to give an idea of what it looks like, I'll get some High res "Normal" pics up ASAP. I will be sad to see this go but I've seen a couple of other cars that have caught my eye.
Looking for £6000 which will stand me at quite a significant loss. May Part ex/swap for something interesting - maybe a Honda Integra/Ek9 try me.

No I didn't know that, I was just referencing the light weight alloy bonnet and boot.....and the fact it's had 2 doors lopped off means it's lighter than it could have been
