Hello mate, I spec'd this to theoretically cope with over 800bhp, the weakest part is the crank. Obviously it's all theory as the treatment of the engine is the deciding factor in its capabilities.
I have a 650bhp Owen Developments turbo which I was going to bolt onto it, but I have another project coming at the end of the month so decided to break the car and head down another path. But that's what my plans were and what I confidently believe that engine can cope with without a problem.

Hahaha yeah something like that, however I've decided to stick to the basics and enter S1 with the new car next year, then I'll build on it.

Loads of 2.5's running that sort of power in the states. Bob Rawles car is running 580+ and that's a 2.5 with an insert. Also running that on Stock ECU.
Eta: there's a lad who is on here, Locky, who had a similar spec engine built by the same person and is running 530ish too, but that's on a pinned block, not with a full CDB Insert
Anyway, all that doesn't really matter, that's why I built it, that is what I was going to run before being tempted by another project (Spec C Type RA). Doesn't HAVE to be run at that power. But that is why it was built. When it was removed it was running a TD05-20G, so around 400bhp, so not even been stressed as far as I'm concerned

The turbo?? On my breaking thread and on quite a few Facebook pages, need to get it on 22b too. It's from Fred originally, he bought it new, had the car mapped, done a few Sprints and removed the engine and turbo to sell to fund his new car.

Was just out of pure interest I'm asking as I'm looking for a engine to go with my next build. Borg Warner 8374 front mounted twins Crilly

sorry mate I edited that 3 times so it reads a bit funny. Just looking, that turbo is 475-750bhp? You looking to max that or sit around mid-range? Mid-range this will be fine, 650+ I wouldn't know.
Just reading your question again, we're you questioning the insert itself?? The block was a semi-closed block and has had an insert machined into it, hope that helps? I thought you were questioning the power level for the build, sorry.

Sorry mate no wasn't questioning the power of build just the inserts as heard so many horror stories of 2.5 engines even with inserts most UK builders say don't push over 550bhp.. on the both I would probably be running around 600/600

Ahh right I get you.
Thing is all you'll hear are bad things, you don't hear anyone writing a post saying "car started and drove great today, not a problem"
At 600+ on a small capacity engine, 2.1, 2.35, 2.5 (they're all small capacity for the power level), that's high tune, so you're always at risk of something going wrong, you can never build anything bomb proof, especially at that level, all you can do is do your best to prevent any problems. I've done everything I can with this build to make it as strong as possible, I just don't need it any more as I imagine it will be a few years before I need a built engine.

Very very similar spec to my 2.5 build also done by Andy kindon , still going strong and slowly increasing the power to suit my needs , was told mines built for 600+ due to still running a head gasket,, even with 14mm head studs so I'm sticking below that just in case lol

My Hawkeye Ran 580bhp and 520lbft with the same engine spec built by the same person for nearly 2.5 years. The 2012 saloon has the same engine spec as well.
Would highly recommend this engine builder he's done hundreds up here in the North

Bump this up, surprised it's still here. It's been "sold" twice now but no money changed hands, guess it's not the right time of year either. I'm open to sensible offers on it and may take something in exchange for it.
