It's not the down pipe cat (1st cat); it's the 2nd cat (what you're referring to as the 3rd cat).
The one in the picture is the one for sale.
I'll remove the heat shields and re-photo.
Edited to say my photo, not your photo... LOL!

Prodrive only fitted sports cats to the downpipe on STI's as part of the PPP. There are two types the later one as pictured above and an earlier one which was not bell mouth and had an external blanket type heat shield unlike the later one which had a metal heat shield. The PPP on the STI and WRX removed the rear cat and replaced it with a decat pipe. Regardless of what you say that is NOT a Prodrive Sports Cat from a PPP. If you take the heat shields off it will either be a standard cat, a Prodrive decat pipe or an outside bet something after market

That picture is just a generic PPP photo.
This is an extract from back in the day when I bought the car:
“Subaru has launched a new series of Prodrive Performance Packs (PPP) for the 2006 model year Impreza 2.5 WRX, WRX STI, spec.D, and the new Forester 2.5 XT. The packs feature reprogrammed ECUs, a high-flow catalytic converter, a sports exhaust silencer and, in the case of the Impreza WRX STI pack, a new high-flow fuel pump.”
And this is a link to the official brochure:
http://impreza.co/wp-content/uploads...P-Brochure.pdf
No mention of a downpipe decat in either, just replacement stainless silencers.
I've also dug out EVO and Autocar long term tests from back when I bought the car (I'm not doing much tonight!), both of whom upgraded to PPP when it became available and both mention high flow cat.
I was sold this by a Subaru Dealership in 2007, who assured me it was part of the PPP pack. I'm now slightly concerned, because if you're right, what did the dealership fit to my car? I've taken off the heat shields:
The number stamped into the box is SE 158 SU 25-06.
Mean anything to you?
Not trying to be difficult by the way – it's just what I've read, been told and been sold!

Must admit never seen that before but it is a subaru part number. The Sports Cat Downpipe I posted is one I sold, it was off a low mileage Spec D. Regardless of what you actually have the prices are cheap. A dealer would probably be able to tell you what that is from the part number. The generic pic of the PPP is certainly what was fitted to some Hawks and newage cars prior to Hawk. The STI got the Sports Cat Downpipe, fuel pump, remap, rear cat delete and back box. The WRX got the rear cat delete, back box, intercooler silicon hose, and remap.

I’ve no idea what was included in the PPP for STI/Spec D, so your comments for these cars may well be correct. I only know what was included in the PPP for 2006/7 WRX, so models before or after this is maybe what you’re inadvertently referring to?
I phoned a Subaru dealer today for reassurance and based on the part number, they have confirmed it WAS part of the £1700 PPP for MY 2006/7 WRX. It is a high-flow cat and the part is still available at £180. It’s listed in Prodrive, Cosworth & Pro R catalogues.
Here’s a link to one that was for sale (with photos) on this very site:
https://www.scoobynet.com/private-fo...6-2-5-wrx.html
I’m confident that what I’m selling is EXACTLY as I have described in post 1 of this thread.
