Default Impreza DBA performance brake discs - Classic fitment

Hi,

It's been a while!

I bought some of the ex-stock from Wallace Performance in Aberdeen which recently ceased trading. Hoping for some Newage/Evo fitment brake discs in the lot but turns out there are some full sets of classic fitment which are no use to me (at the moment...). Note I'm not a trader, this was a one off job lot and as these are towards the better end of the brake disc market I thought they would be best placed here/SS.net.

These are a DBA brand discs. I have a few different types, all older stock, but brand new in the boxes. As far as I can remember these are the sizes for the front two pot sliders and rear single pots on WRX/Turbo 93-98 (may some Sport or Sport Special with the rear disc brakes), but also some Legacy, Outback and Forester fitments. Please check the sizes.

Front discs size are:

Diameter (mm): 277
Height (mm): 57
Thickness (mm): 24
Min. Thickness (mm): 22
Inner Diameter (mm): 58
Number of Holes: 5
Pitch Circle (mm): 100
Disc Vent: Vented
Weight (kg):8

Rears are:

Diameter (mm): 266
Height (mm): 67.5
Thickness (mm): 10/18
Min. Thickness (mm): 8.5/16
Inner Diameter (mm): 58
Number of Holes: 5
Pitch Circle (mm): 100
Disc Vent: Sold/Vented
Weight (kg): 5.44

Sets I have:

Fronts:
DBA4648XS, these are vented, drilled and grooved/slotted in gold.
DBA648S, these are vented and straight grooved/slotted in grey.

Rear:
DBA4644S, these are solid and 6x6 wiper grooved/slotted in grey.
DBA4649S, these are vented and 6x6 wiper grooved/slotted in grey.

The numbers starting with a 4 are the high performance 4000 series which are for heavy street and track use. All of the 4000 series have paint markers on the edge to allow you to monitor the heat that disc has seen (three bands). These are a higher carbon alloy material compared to the other set so they can handle higher temperatures over extended periods of time without causing accelerated degradation of the discs compared to other disc materials.

The DBA648S are the Street series discs, no paint markings but are prepared to a high tolerance to reduce judder.

The DBA4648XS disc has the “Kagaroo Paw” vent configuration, I also think one of the other 4000 series also but would need to check:

“Brake rotors from DBA Street Series feature with "Kangaroo Paw” – 144 diamond and tear drop pillar ventilation system. Increased surface area results in greater heat dissipation and thus minimises brake fade and increases braking effectiveness of disc brake.”

The part numbers can be searched on http://dbabrakes.eu/ for more fitment options however note that these are the older style vent grooves/slots line in the pics.

Anyway, pics of the grooves:

I have those DBA4000 (4656SR) series discs on the rear of my Type R - they are a top quality disc. Don't know why you haven't had anyone want them at that price as I paid £135 a pair and that was a big discount, so £105 is a bargain - GLWTS

I know, and the retail is about £250-300 a pair....

I thought I'd sell the Subaru discs no problem and get my money back but they are the only ones that have had zero interest. Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi no problem.

Sods law that out of all the sets in the pallet most pairs were Subaru ones as well. Doh!

Well as far a I can remember if its a Type R with the R180 diff (STI) then its a 290mm rear disk which I don't have, if its a Type R with an R160 rear diff (WRX) then the above 266mm discs will fit.

Now its been quite a few years since I was playing with the Subaru's so could be wrong but I do remember R160 Type R's and the easy way to tell if its was an R160 was it didn't have the DCCD.
