SOLD SOLD SOLD low miles approx 60k after subaru warranty claim exchange uk engine.
good working order with receipts and service history from the running car it came out of. I mistakenly bought a 1998 turbo to replace the engine in my 1999 car that I have just put up for sale. I didnt realise that the heads and coil location were different on the "phase 2" engines. I am looking for £400 for it with turbo coils etc.
I know its a good engine and will happily supply all the docments to back up the fact the engine was replaced under warranty at 95k and the car had 156k on it when I removed it. It ran faultlessly didnt lose oil or water and ran on boost brilliantly shame the rear diff was seized shortly after I got it home. There is no clutch with the engine.
I am clearing my garage as I am heading abroad for 12 to 18 months and need to clear space.

if your coil is in the middle of the heads yes... (central Position)
if its offset then no.(ie mounted on one of the heads not central)
are you sure you dont just need the crank seal doing front or back as thats the normal leak points???

Just had a look and my coil is offset, so no good, cheers for letting me know so soon. GLWS
I changed the front crank seal and all of the the other bungs and seals around where the leak is. An experienced tuner is suggesting that when this engine was rebuilt, the seal between the two block halves is not great and that is where the leak is. He suggests that the only way to fix it to split the block and re-seal. Big work. Suggests that there is no sealent or liquid metal that will hold it.
At the mo its running fine, so I just keep topping it up with oil, not great, but I use the car 3-4 times a week, so can't really take it off the road for ages to sort the engine. Fingers crossed it gets no worse.
