KYB Excel-G's and STi top mounts
Hi guys,
I'm looking to replace my 100,000 mile original dampers soon with some KYB Excel-G's and wondering if anyone is running these with the STi top mounts the likes of ICP/RCM sells? I imagine these mounts are made for the thicker STi shocks but assume they work well/are a worthwhile upgrade for the Excel-G's also?
Also is Camskill the cheapest place to get Excel-G's from? £128 for a pair sounds pretty good!

Hi, car is a 97 UK Turbo, used on the road, my only car, does about 7k a year, maybe the occasional track day in the future but we're talking perhaps one or two a year max. Only about 260hp so nothing crazy.
Current suspension spec is standard shocks and top mounts all round, Eibach Sportline springs, STi alloy lower arms, Whiteline ALK, SuperPro front droplinks, 16" Rays TE37, Yoko AD08's
Future plans will be new shocks/top mounts on the rear (KYB Excel/STi combo if this is what I go for on the front), a 20mm front ARB and a 22mm whiteline ARB with whiteline stout mounts and droplinks.
Trying to do worthwhile upgrades but maintaining a good balance...

Sounds good to me , but i'd use 22mm front and rear adjustable ARBs instead . Excel G's will be a bit on the soft side for track work , but yours is a road car so all makes sense.
My classic perfect combo were Red later STI KYB's with P1 springs , a bit harder than yours but very very great handling wise...
Good luck

Thanks guys, I'll go for the Excels and STi mounts :-) Mantazini the Red KYB's and P1 springs sounds good, but to get this set up new I imagine I would end up spending 3 or 4 times as much, if I could even find it :-)
Noted your info on the front ARB, I was thinking 20mm to make sure I don't end up cancelling out the advantages an uprated rear ARB brings, but I am seeing alot of people running the same size bar front and rear so perhaps this is the way to go.
