I run the Excel-Gs with standard springs on my MY93. They are an excellent solution. I'm not interested in aesthetics or track use, only real-world performance on British B-roads for which compliance is essential. I also have a MY99 car with P1 springs and Prodrive dampers (a much-praised setup) and I rate the Excel-Gs with OEM MY93 springs to be 99% as good.

nice one, thanks for that mate
I am quite impressed with the price as well
4 shocks for £254

I was thinking the adjustable AGX shocks may be better but even though i have a plan to do one track day it wont be much more than that so i think the AGX may be a bit over kill and pointless.....

i am sold on this kit

KAYABA 33 SERIES KYB EXCEL-G SEALED GAS STRUT - Complete Standard Shocker Kit -

im tempted to go for these instead of OEM springs though....

EIBACH SUSPENSION / EIBACH SPRINGS - Lowering Spring Kit - Pro Kit

What are you aiming to achieve with your suspension mods?

The only reason I can think of to go with Eibach Pro springs is if you prefer the looks of a lowered car. I've not tried them myself but if you search there are a number of reviews out there.

For road use the Excel-Gs are superb and the fact that they are cheap is a bonus. I do have a brand-new set of AGX front shocks for sale though if you change your mind

Thanks for the reply mate.
One thing im not bothered about doing is lowering the car, but i had read that if you want to put Eibach springs on your new shocks, the Eibach "Pro" springs to go for as other Eibach are to soft.

i could stay on the standard springs, dont think there is anything wrong with them but just dont feel right putting lovely new shocks on with old springs....

going to keep looking through the forum pages to see what comes up.

The AGX sound great but just not sure how i would benefit from them.

need to buy new top mounts so probably best to save the difference between AGX and G's....

did you go for the standard eibach springs?

regarding the feel, would you say that the shocks and springs are good enough for say the odd "well behaved" track day....
is the ride the same as the standard... and does it improve handaling at all?

thanks in advance

You could always powdercoat your old springs so they look new when fitting with new shocks.

I've only been very briefly once on track with my MY93 but long enough to realise that the standard setup is far too soft for track. But then a track-oriented setup would be much too stiff for the road imo.
