Default Shock Absorbers Advice please

Hi I Have a 2004 Impreza STI UK version with PPP
I am looking into replacing the tired shocks (standard STI) and was wanting to replace with genuine Subaru parts to keep the car standard but fell over when I saw their prices quoted to me (see below + VAT !! )

I am looking for advice on what to go for
based on normal road use and stance (not Lowered)

Thanks In advance for any advice
Regards
Ian

Unlikely to be in stock at ECP (or anywhere else for that matter). When I was looking at this earlier in the year, the only strut options for a (non widetrack) newage were KYB AGX (which if fitted to a blob require the Scooby921 spacers available mail order from TurnInConcepts in the US), or Koni Yellow inserts which require WRX struts to be cut.

Both the AGX and Koni options are twin-tube not inverted like OEM, so new bump stops will also be needed.

Go KYB Ultra SR but you'll need to wait until August at the earliest. I completely calved a front damper recently so went to buy a full set but owing to a factory move in Poland one side for the front (think it was left) is currently not available. Ended up with BC's in the end and not overly happy with it. If you can hold on, get on the phone to Camskill and get them to put your name on a full set as soon as they're available.

Also, while the Koni's would be an awesome option, as you have the inverted struts they're not an option. This was an issue I encountered as I'd been assured by Demon-Tweeks that they had full struts available - turned out it was a load of bollocks and it was only inserts they had, which of course wouldn't work without also pulling the bushes out the STI struts.

According to eBay there are SRs available from a few different sellers. You'd definitely want to check stock in advance however as in my experience sellers are happy to advertise without actual stock availability.

When I was buying for my newage in May, and also last year when I was looking for replacement KYB struts for my classic, there was no stock of KYB struts at all in the UK. Both times I ended up sourcing from a Polish supplier called "Carfit Service". If you can't find local stock I suggest contacting them - good communication and prices, and delivery only took about 5 days.

WRX twin-tube strut bodies are easy and cheap to source.

Quite right.
And, you don't need the scooby921 spacer - Koni inserts fit both early and late version rear top mounts.

They are, but I didn't have sufficient time to get them sorted, hence the BC's. Also, not everyone has the means and facilities to cut the struts and then drill the 14mm hole in the base necessary for fitting the Koni inserts.

All the ebay places I spoke to who advertised the Ultra SR's carried no stock and expected to be able to get them sent direct from KYB UK next day, which of course wasn't ever going to work.
